USOP Hanoi Main Event roars to a record breaking ₫29.1BN (~$1.2M); Bien Mai and Anuj Yadav top final heats

U Series of Poker aimed high and crushed it! The four starting flights attracted a smashing 1,336 entries for a new Vietnam Main Event record turnout and a prize pool that swelled to VN₫ 29,158,200,000 (~USD 1,212,000) for a non high roller series.

Held at the Crown Poker Club, the largest poker room in in Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital city, the abundance of tables still weren’t enough to accommodate the surge. The opportunity to compete for the richest prize pool was top priority. In the aftermath, another 89 made the cut for a combined 167 players set to return for Day 2.

Leading the pack into the next round is a very familiar local star, Bien Mai who bagged up the Day 1D turbo flight chip lead of 1,143,000, equivalent to a towering 143 bb. During the bubble round, Mai landed a massive double up on a full house over full house that sent his stack soaring. All in on the turn 4c6dAs8c4s, Mai with 8d8h against 6s6c.

On the opposite end, Nam Phuong was given the hard boot by Lim Kar Hou to depart as the event’s last bubble. The bust was a crushing Ah5d gut shot straight completed on the river Kh3d4d9c2c to dust Phuong’s 10d10h. Lim bagged up 68 bb.

Over at Day 1C, India’s Anuj Yadav finished as top rank with 825,000, equivalent to 103 bb. That placed him in fifth overall entering Day 2. Yadav crushed the hopes of series super high roller star Hoang Hai Nam with 10d10s set on the flop defeating QcQh over pair. Mini Main Event champion Le Huy Thanh also ended strong with 86 bb.
