Thomas Ward bags the lead at Main Event Day 2; 18 players remaining
Another heated day at the U Series of Poker – USOP Danang 2024 MAIN EVENT with the record 1,702 entry field seeing 213 players return for Day 2. While the agenda was to reach the final table, after 12 hours of play, it bagged up at the Final 18 led by New Zealand’s Thomas Ward with 80 bb. A very close second was UK’s Gabriel Carter with 77 bb.
The final 18 return on Monday, April 1, 2024 for the last leg to the title. While everyone is guaranteed VN₫ 302,300,000 (~USD 12,214), the target is the jaw dropping top prize of VN₫ 7,120,000,000 (~USD 287,677). This is the single largest prize money ever to be awarded at the USOP. In fact, the top four players will pocket the equivalent of six figures USD.
The USOP Danang Main Event is officially the richest for the brand with a prize pool of VN₫ 44,575,300,000 (~USD 1,800,000). Portions of the cash were shaved down at Day 2. Among those visiting the cage for their share was USOP Taiwan Main Event champion Sam Chen Yu Hung who finished in 78th place. This will mean that a new USOP champion will soon be crowned.
