Nguyen Quang Huy wins the Billionaire Club High Stakes Challenge

Despite being among the late registrants, multi-decorated local pro Nguyen Quang Huy needed only one bullet to take down the Billionaire Club High Stakes Challenge and pocket the ₫1,571,500,000 (~$65,000) top prize.

Huy, who goes by the pseudonym “Mr. Huy Dzai” bested a field of 18 talented high-rollers that included the likes of reigning WPT Prime Championship winner Stephen Song, Filipino John Tech, and legendary Vietnam high roller Dao Minh Phu.

Heading into the final table, Huy already enjoyed the chip advantage at 1,314,000 while Taiwanese pro Justin Chu was in hot pursuit. With only four places paid, Huy proceeded to steamroll the opposition and dealt the knockout blow against fellow countryman Chu Thai Thinh to burst the bubble.

First to the money was Song who fell on a cooler to Nguyen Van Sang with KsKd dominating QsQd. Song commented,

“The pace of play is so quick, even compared to America where it’s fast. The players are tough. They’re definitely not ‘folders’. It would take some getting used to. I’m happy I cashed and I’m looking forward to playing in the upcoming events.”

Justin Chu followed suit with his QhJc shove missing the mark against Huy’s Ac2h This signaled in the heads up round with Huy ahead in chips against Sang. By the 20th hand, Huy had grinded down Sang to 3 bb and knocked him with 10c10h set over King-Five offsuit.

“It’s been a long time since I won a WPT trophy. I’m happy that I finally got a trophy. I want to also get the trophy in the Main Event so that I could get that passport to play in the WPT World Championship.”
