Opening day at Poker Dream 7 Vietnam roared in with the Vietnam Open ₫2 Billion guaranteed kicking off the festivities. By night’s end, 298 entered over three flights. Bagging up the overall chip lead was well known Vietnamese pro Pham Bao with a 103 bb stack. Pham topped the 149 entry field of Day 1B.

Leading up to the bubble round with only 23 players reaching ITM, Pham won a big pot against Dream Player of the Year (DPOY) race leader You Jun Hong who double barreled with Js9s mid pair called by Pham with KdQs higher pair on a board AhKh6sQhJd.

To wrap up the flight, Pham eliminated Chhikara Himanshu on the bubble with QdQc dominating AdJs on a board JcKs2d9h4c.

Other flight leaders were Kyle Bao Diep (Flight A) and Iosub Dragos-Gabriel (Flight C). At Flight A, with 109 entries, Diep picked up a big chunk of chips by knocking out local pro Huynh Ngoc Cuong in two hands. The first pot saw a board complete 8d3cAs7d6d, Huynh raised preflop and bet every street, then mucked to Diep’s Ah9c. Dropping to 8 bb, Huynh lost the rest to Diep with Ac9h top pair falling to QdJc straight on a board 2d10cAhKdQs.

Short stacked Nguyen Phu bubbled with KcQd running into Ngo Hoang Hieu’s AcAh. Nine players advanced from Flight A.

It was a patient grind to the top for Phan who was down to 9 bb at 7 handed. After numerous uncalled shoves and three players dropping out, Phan earned his first double up against Adrian Chua with Ad9s spiking the ace on the river to dust 9h9c.

At three-handed, Phan grinded to the top then won a big pot against Chua who then fell to Liu Tianyou. Heads up was quick with Phan eliminating Liu in just two hands. The final hand was Phan QhJd, Liu 7c7d, the board was 8hAd8dJs4s.
