APT Online Series India IN₹ 8 Crore GTD set to run from August 1 to 8 at PokerBaazi.com

Despite ongoing challenges caused by the global health crisis, poker operators continue to seek out ways to keep their patrons fulfilled. For players geolocated in India, there’s plenty to be thrilled about as one of the region’s premier brands, the Asian Poker Tour, teams up once again with PokerBaazi.com for a second online series. On the APT website, APT General Manager and Executive Tournament Director, Lloyd Fontillas shared his excitement,

The upcoming APT Online Series India 2021 will be held from August 1 to 8 with 44 tournaments lined up and a substantial IN₹ 8 Crore (~US$ 1,075,970) guaranteed. The schedule offers something for every type of bankroll with tournament buy ins from IN₹ 550 (~US$ 7.40) to IN₹ 55,000 (~US$ 740). Players can expect the same APT feel with special trophies and rings up for grabs. A total of 10 trophies will be awarded and three rings. Highlighting the series is the IN₹ 7,700 (~US$ 103) buy in APT Main Event featuring IN₹ 1 Crore (~US$ 134,500) guaranteed. 

Here’s a rundown of the highlighted events. 

APT Main Event

The APT Main Event is the brand’s top of the line tournament and is the one everyone seeks to conquer. For a buy in of just IN₹ 7,700 (~US$ 103), players have a chance at the IN₹ 1 Crore (~US$ 134,500) guarantee. The champion will receive the APT Championship Trophy and APT Championship Ring. The Main Event is a phased event with four qualifying days running from August 5 to 8.

APT Championship Event

Another event just as sought after as the main is the featured APT Championship Event though with a higher price tag of IN₹ 22,000 (~US$ 300). Because of this, it tends to attract players with deeper pockets. Unlike its live version, this is a one day event taking place on August 4 featuring a guarantee of IN₹ 50 Lakhs (~US$ 67,250). The champion will receive the APT Championship Trophy and APT Championship Ring.

High Roller Events

For players with big bankrolls, the schedule has four high roller events in store with buy ins from just IN₹ 5,500 (~US$ 74) to IN₹ 55,000 (~US$ 740). Two are No Limit Hold’em events and two are Pot Limit Omaha. In addition to the cash prize, champions will receive an APT Trophy. 

Breaking it down, the NLH variant offers the High Roller IN₹ 75 Lakhs (~US$ 100,900) guaranteed with buy in at IN₹ 27,500 (~US$ 370). The event is scheduled for August 5. This is followed by the Super High Roller IN₹ 80 Lac (~US$ 107,600) guaranteed which takes place on August 6. The SHR event is the costliest tournament of the series with buy in at IN₹ 55,000 (~US$ 740). At the first edition, many decorated Indian pros were in attendance such as Abhishek Goindi, Kunal Patni, Dhaval Mudgal, Sumit Sapra, Akshay Nasa, Kartik Ved, and WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer who shipped it for IN₹ 20.73 Lac (~US$ 28,840). 

Under the PLO variant are the PLO High Roller IN₹ 25 Lac (~US$ 33,600) guaranteed with buy in at IN₹ 11,000 (~US$ 148) and the PLO-5 High Roller IN₹ 15 Lac (~US$ 20,200) guaranteed with buy in at half price of IN₹ 5,500 (~US$ 74).

Other Trophy Events

In addition to the events listed above, the Mini Main Event, Sunday Major, and Monday Major are also trophy events. The Mini Main Event is a phased tournament with three starting days from August 1 to 3. Advancing players meet on August 4 for a chance at the IN₹ 50 Lac (~US$ 67,250) guarantee. Buy in is IN₹ 3,300 (~US$ 44). 

The Sunday Major also burns the felt on opening day, August 1, and it is a one day event backed by a guarantee of IN₹ 40 Lac (~US$ 53,800). To enter, buy in is IN₹ 8,250 (~US$ 111). The next day is the Monday Major extending a cheaper buy in of IN₹ 3,850 (~US$ 52) and a guarantee of IN₹ 20 Lac (~US$ 26,900). 

APT Player of the Series

Covering the rest of the schedule are a wide variety of fun tournament formats such as Bounty events, Turbos, Deepstacks, and short handed. All of these events including the ones listed above earn players points towards the APT Player of the Series leaderboard. At the end of the series, the top 25 players will receive a piece of the IN₹ 30 Lac (~US$ 40,35) in Real Cash Bonus (RCB). The winner will receive the APT Player of the Series Trophy, APT Player of the Series Ring, a luxury watch, and IN₹ 6 Lac (~US$ 8,100) in RCB.
