The Main Event of the 13-day festival started on Friday at Crowne Melbourne. Here is what you should know about the first two starting days:
521 entries: The second day 1 flight alone attracted 274 players, with several notable names making the trip to Melbourne for this event. Joe Hachem, Celina Lin, Randy Lew, Bryan Huang and Chen-An Lin have all been involved. Combined with the 249 entries of Day 1A, the total field size swelled to 521.
AUD1,198,300 Prize Pool: The 521 entries generated a total prize pool of AUD1,198,300.
262 survivors: With frenetic action underway throughout the first starting flights, only 127 players from Day 1A were left standing for Day 2. 135 will return from Day 1B. The grand total number of survivors for Day 2 stands at 262.
63 places paid: 63 of the assembled field will eventually be fortunate enough to receive payment for their efforts. They will pocket a minimum of AUD4,270.
AUD235,875: The winner of APPT Melbourne Main Event will take home AUD235,875 (USD179,680).
173,900: Patrick Donker will start Day 2 as chip leader with 173,900 chips. He will be followed by Srdjan Brkic who bagged 164,200 chips at the end of Day 1B.
26,900 Chips: The reigning champion of APPT 10 Manila, Linh Tran, will bring 26,900 chips back to the fray tomorrow. 2015 APOY champion Alan King Lun Lau will start the day with 48,300 chips.
3 PokerStars pros: The total number of PokerStars pros to have survived the melee of day 1 is 3. Chen-An Lin, Celina Lin and Randy Lew will all pull up chairs tomorrow.
