2M for 2K Day 2 Primer: 140 runners left to chase ‘Millionaire’ dream

PASAY CITY, Philippines—There will be no more re-entries and for the 140 left standing to contest the title and PhP1,000,000 top purse in the “2M for 2K” inaugural tournament of MIKES ROOM (Metro Manila’s newest and action-filled poker facility), their fates are now in the hands of poker gods in Day 2 beginning today (June 26th) here. 72 players will finish in the money.

Noel Ogana from the province of Pampanga carries the biggest stack into the penultimate competition day with 349,000 in chips followed by Day 1A leader Martin Ealdama’s 299,000 and Day 1B top man Luke Pangan with 269,000 in holdings.

In all Day 1s, the tournament clock was paused in Level 15 (blinds: 2,000/4,000 ante 500) and will resume at the top of that stage, according to Tournament Director Chris Dalida.

“There will be no roll back at this point,” Dalida said. “But the biggest difference in the structure is that the levels will now take longer.”

The blinds will now increase at a more gradual pace of forty minutes per level, allowing those in contention to still take a stab at the PhP2,000,000 prize pool.

With the average stack at 100,200 (about 25 BBs), the increase in time in the levels gives a decent shot for players to hit ITM (ITM) and claw at those atop the leaderboard.

Presently, 82 runners hold below average stacks (more than half the remaining field), but that could all change in one swift strike—as it is at this stage of any tournament.
