2M for 2K Day 1B “Night” Flight draws 158 entries, Boyet Drilon leads

PASAY CITY, Philippines—This tournament is about to make history as 158 entries in the “2M for 2K” Day 1B “Night” Flight here now brings the total entries to an astonishing 842 with a full Day 1C (“Day” and “Night” flights) still to be played on Saturday (June 25th) here.

When the action halted in Level 15 (2,000/4000/500), a similar 21 entrants survived to make it to Day 2 with Jose “Boyet” Drilon leading the way with 165,000 in chips. Drilon was the highest Filipino finisher in last year’s WSOP Main Event, ending his run at 283rd.

Conrado Pumicpic ended the flight (which coincided with the MIKES ROOM Players’ Party) in second place with 148,500 while Archie Santos got to third with 118,000.

The 42 players who advanced to Day 2 from these flights now join the 34 others who made it through from Day 1A’s two flights and the preceding flight out of Cebu last Wednesday (June 22nd).

The winner of this event takes home PhP1,000,000 ($21,281) and the 76 that made it now have to gear up for what could be a huge influx from the final Day 1 of this event.

Traditionally in the Philippines, the final Day 1 (usually played on a Saturday to allow office folk to join in) brings in the most number of participants and with the tournament just 168 heads shy of the goal, an overlay seems less likely and it appears that one of the largest field to ever play in a poker event in this country is about to be set.
