Koray Aldemir Wins 2021 WSOP Main Event for $8 Million

The day has come – poker has a new world champion. Koray Aldemir, a German poker pro living in Vienna, Austria, has managed to top the 6,650-player field that gathered for this year’s WSOP Main Event. He is the last champion to be crowned at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, off the Vegas Strip. In his last hand, he got dealt 10d7d. He got a lucky flop and made two pair, while his opponent, George Holmes, decided to float against a check-raise with King high. Holmes made a pair of Kings on the turn, but it was no good. After an ambitious shove on the river from Holmes, Aldemir ended up looking him up with his two pair. This gave him poker’s most coveted title, along with the $8 million first prize money! You can watch the last hand below, presented by PokerGO.

This year, the World Series opted against putting on the million-dollar One Drop high roller. Thus, the highest buy-in event on the menu in 2021 was the $250,000 No Limit Hold’em Super High Roller. It was won by Spanish poker star Adrian Mateos for $3.265 million. It was the Spaniard’s fourth gold bracelet. You can re-watch the full final table action, presented by PokerGO’s YouTube channel, below. This final table featured some other big names in the poker world, such as the WSOP gold bracelet winner Benjamin Heath from the UK or the American Seth Davies.

What Not to Say at a Poker Table

The people who manage the PokerStars YouTube channel are gracious enough to comb through hundreds of hours of footage week after week to give us interesting, fun-to-watch compilations based around a theme. This week’s theme is (possibly) over the line table talk. Or, it’s just situations where players manage to talk their opponents into the correct decision in the hand. Either way, as we said, it’s a video compilation that is sure fun to watch!

Crazy Rec Player Bags $120K Win at Hustlers

Lately, the Hustler Casino in California has streamed some exciting live cash action with some of the biggest names in poker. Tom Dwan, Daniel “Jungleman” Cates, and even Phil Ivey has sat at their tables. This time, however, let’s take a moment to appreciate a recreational player in their line-up. A man named “Dr. Eli” has gone on the rungood of his lifetime, and it was all caught on camera. Since he’s always playing a crazy, loose style, the man got paid handsomely for his efforts.

Brad Owen Back at the Bellagio

Brad Owen, the most successful poker vlogger out there with more than half a million YouTube subscribers, is still grinding the cash tables of Las Vegas. This time. the stakes are higher than usual. He played a session of $10/$20 No Limit Hold’em at the famous Bellagio. One of his opponents was none other than Japanese gambling vlogger Masato Yokosawa. He brought just enough luck for Owen to book a small, $560 (28 BB’s) win for the day.
