USOP Danang Mini Main Event sets new record of 935 entries and ₫7.25 Billion (~$330.9K) prize pool

The U Series of Poker season finale witnessed yet another blockbuster event as players flocked to Furama Resort for the Mini Main Event. Taking place in the gorgeous coastal town Danang in Vietnam, Day 1A attracted 267 entries, Day 1B saw a massive 366 entries, and Day 1C added another 302 entries. This cumulative total of 935 entries set a new record for the brand’s event. Simultaneously, the prize pool surged to VN₫ 7.25 Billion (~$330.9K), almost VN₫ 2 Billion more than the previous figure.

Mini Main Event Day 1A

On Monday, November 20, Minin Main Event Day 1A drew 195 players and 72 re-entries for a total of 267 runners. This was a promising start and a possible sign of bigger fields to follow. The heat closed on a cooler with Tran Quoc Uy eliminating Hanna Azimai on the bubble with AdKc dominating AcQc.

Hwigon Park

Locking up the chip lead was South Korea’s Hwigon Park with 684,000. Helping Park get there was a stunning straight out of nowhere. The hand initially saw a raised pot preflop, the 9s2c4d flop was checked by three players to the turn Qs. Park bet then called a check-raise as one player folded. On the river 3d, Park raised all in with As5s straight and cleaned out the shorter stack who called with 9c9d set.

Lee Wai Huen

Running one small blind behind was Lee Wai Huen with 678,000. This was another strong performance by Lee who topped the counts of the opening event and went on to draw the biggest bounty.

Mini Main Event Day 1B drew the largest of the three starters with 366 entries (258 unique). 46 players bagged up led by Louie Yu with a towering 950,000 in chips (95 bb). Yu was already sporting the biggest stack at bubble time and pumped in more after eliminating Maeng Seonghun with 5s5h standing up against AsQs on a board 3h6s9d10d6h.
