WPT Prime Vietnam: Opener draws 510 entries; 65 advance led by NgọC Anh Cao, Lưu Danh TuấN; Dinh Tien Thanh wins Turbo NLH

The World Poker Tour (WPT) Prime Vietnam series is underway at the Crown Poker Club in Hanoi with the second day of action attracting a large number of players for the WPT Opener. After the two flights completed, the event amassed a combined 510 entries to send the prize pool soaring to VN₫ 3,957,600,000 (~US$ 168,750), easily surpassing the VN₫ 2 Billion guarantee.

Combined with the survivors from Day 1A, a total of 51 players advanced to Day 2. At the end of Day 1B Vietnamese pro NgọC Anh Cao bagged a huge stack of 639,000 chips (106 bb). Lưu Danh TuấN was close behind with 638,000 chips. Both players will return as race leaders.

At Day 1C, the final flight, India’s Avneesh Munjai topped the counts with 503,000 chips (83 bb). Munjai won a crucial pot against Jin Yong to propel him to the lead. On a turn board of AcQs5sKc, Yong had the nuts straight with Jd10c, Munjai had AdQd two pair that improved to a full house on the river Ah.

Some of the casualties of the day were decorated WPT Main Event champions Ashish Munot, Dhaval Mudgal, and Phinh Van Nguyen. On the flip side, WPT Taiwan champion Marc Inizan powered through.

When the survivors return on Thursday, May 18, each one is guaranteed a minimum payout of VN₫ 13,500,000 (~US$ 575) but what they will be coveting is the substantial VN₫ 770,000,000 (~US$ 32,280) top prize.
