Poker King Club to Open for Business in Vietnam

The Facebook page of Winfred Yu left the poker community in no doubt about the plans of Poker King Club moving forward, as he announced today,

“coming soon – Poker King Club Vietnam!!!”

The poker room will be situated near the iconic Ha Long Bay, in Ha Long City. Further information remains scarce, but in answering questions on his page, Yu suggested that 4 events were planned for 2017. More details should hopefully come to light in the next few weeks.

Location

The bay of Ha Long is a prime location for this project, as it already holds the distinction of being a UNESCO World Heritage site, and is a favoured destination for countless tourists each year. The thousands of towering limestone islands topped by rainforests, which rise up out of the emerald waters are a truly beautiful spectacle.

Ha Long City aims to strengthen its position as one of the premier tourist destinations in Asia, and is already home to casinos which are only open to foreign passport holders. The city is 170km away from the capital city of Hanoi.

Brand expansion

This next project represents a significant step for the PokerKing Club brand, who work closely with their parent company, junket operator SunCity Group. What began as an enterprise revolving around Macau is now encompassing other prime locations across the continent. May 2015 saw the opening of PokerKing Club’s room in Manila, followed later by another opening on the Korean island of Jeju.

For the Vietnamese poker community, this is the second piece of good news in quick succession, with the opening of Aces Club being announced recently. Players will still have many questions about how the poker scene in Vietnam will develop as these two projects move forward, and there are certainly exciting times ahead for Vietnamese poker.
