Huge turnout at Day 1B of the Manila Super Series 17 Main Event with 220 entries pulled in during the ten rounds of registration. Added to the 144 Day 1A entries, the combined count came to 364 which meant it not only crushed the PHP 3M guarantee but propelled the prize pool to over PHP 4.6 Million. Good news to all, that pot will increase further with Day 1C yet to be played out. For weekend warriors, fence sitters, and those that missed the mark in the previous days, this is the last chance to enter.
As Day 1B drew to a close, Mikko Cayetano delivered the bubble with yet another harsh defeat. Cayetano’s pocket Sevens spiked the two-outer on the river to dust pocket Queens. He bagged up the fifth largest of the Day 2 crew.
Earning the top spot among the 33 qualifiers of this heat was local pro Edilberto Gopez with a very healthy 572,000 in chips, equivalent to 71 big blinds. This placed him second in the cumulative Day 2 lineup with Day 1A chip leader Jae Ki Choi retaining the high position. One of the hands that helped Gomez kick off his race to the top was pocket Twos set against a players top pair.
