The first PokerStars Shard Trophy is up for grabs at the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) festival which is currently taking place at the NagaWorld Integrated Resorts in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Kicking off yesterday was the featured APPT National, highlighted by its juicy US$ 100,000 guarantee. Day 1A attracted 74 entries with Minwoo Kang bagging the chip lead. You can find the chip counts at the bottom of the page.
Today opened with Day 1B starting at 1pm. By the first break, the guarantee was easily surpassed with over 100 entries and rising. Among the players currently in the field is the inaugural APPT Cambodia Main Event champion Alex Puchalski. Puchalski is getting some early practice before he attempts a back-to-back.
Puchalski has position over APPT National defending champion Seong Min Lee who is to his immediate right. Also in the field are WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer, Taiwanese pro Nevan Chang, Vietnamese pro Le Ngoc Khanh, and Australia’s hot running John Perry to mention a few.
APPT National buy in is US$ 800. This is a single re-entry (per flight) tournament with 30,000 starting stack. Blinds increase every 40 minutes. Day 1B registration closes at 8:10pm. If you miss that window or fall by the wayside, there is still Day 1C which is a turbo flight. This is the last chance to enter. Cards in the air at 8pm. Blinds go up every 20 minutes with registration closing at 11:40pm.
In partnership with Connaissance Management, APPT Cambodia kicked off on May 5 and will run through May 15. Five players have captured spadies which means there are still 21 trophies to compete. The prestigious Main Event title is scheduled for May 12 to 15 featuring a US$ 400,000 guarantee. With a strong turnout the past few days, that figure will likely be breached early.
