The long wait is over as the schedule for the anticipated 2020 World Series of Poker Online series coming up on the GGPoker Natural8 platform was just released last night. A once in a lifetime festival, the prestigious series is giving players all around the world the opportunity to grab a coveted WSOP bracelet in its online games this coming July.
A total of 54 bracelets are up for grabs beginning July 19th up until September 6th, catering to a wide range of players with buy-ins ranging from as low as $50 BIG 50 to as high as $25,000 for the NLH Poker Players Championship.
The seven-week series will feature over $60 million in combined guarantees with the $25 million GTD Main Event being the highlight of the festival. The $5,000 buy-in event, starting August 16th, will be the single biggest guarantee in online poker history. Other events to look out for are the $5M GTD $1,500 MILLIONAIRE MAKER which guarantees $1M for the winner alone, the $10M GTD NLH Poker Players Championship and the $5M GTD WSOP Super MILLION$.
Players with limited bankrolls need not worry as multiple affordable satellites will be running beginning July 1st and all throughout the series. A series of micro and low stakes events will also be available on the network prior to the official WSOP online festival.
“We knew GGPoker would go BIG on the WSOP Online Series, but this is ridiculous,” said Ty Stewart, Executive Director of the World Series of Poker. “The single biggest guarantee in the history of online poker is exactly what this once-in-a-lifetime event deserves.”
Similar to the annual WSOP live circuit, its online edition will likewise host a variety of games running bracelet events for Pot Limit Omaha, Limit Hold’em and Short Deck as well. A lot of firsts to be seen in the upcoming WSOP season special with four surprise ‘Players Choice’ events to be determined.
Games for Events #47-50 will be decided by a string of votes from the players themselves as ‘Most Popular’ with the other two events set by ‘Pros Vote’ and ‘Spin the Wheel’.
Asia Player of the Series
In addition, a WSOP leaderboard will award three prizes to its notable winners namely the Pure Gold Mouse – Leaderboard winner, Pure Gold Dragon – Asia Player of the Series (Asia Time Events) and the Pure Gold Card – 2nd to 5th in the overall leaderboard with more details to be released in the coming weeks.
“This reminds me of poker’s boom years. Anyone who has dreamed of winning a real WSOP bracelet can now do so across the globe,” added Daniel Negreanu, GGPoker Ambassador. “There’s no feeling like winning a WSOP bracelet, and GGPoker is opening that opportunity to the masses.”
WSOP bracelet winner and all-time leading German poker player Fedor Holz correspondingly conveyed his support for the series saying, “The ability to compete for WSOP bracelets – the ultimate prize in poker – from home is so amazing,”
“The big events will be full of players from all over the world; Europe, Canada, South America and everywhere else – the WSOP action will be scorching hot this summer!”, the pro further noted.
Real names to be used for bracelet event final tables
Considering the grand scheme of events lined up, 12 final table bracelet events will have unprecedented media coverage to be streamed on its GGPoker.TV and Poker Central channels. Operator GGNetwork confirmed that players who qualify in final tables for the gold bracelet events are required to adopt the real names policy for the games. So far, the network has since conducted trials for the use of real names in VIP tables featuring high stakes cash games and high roller tournaments since late May. While still in process, not all players are eager to play under their real names due to certain privacy issues but are being highly encouraged to verify their accounts in efforts to curb multi-accounting and other online poker concerns that may arise.
Head of GGPoker Network Jean-Christophe Antoine revealed in a statement, “We think it’s [referring to real names] a good thing for online poker. We don’t know yet if it’s good to do it for everyone [in] every format, every game type, et cetera, so what we’re doing is we are trailing it. We’re starting testing the waters, starting step-by-step.”
“We’re slowly rolling it out, and if it works well, then we will expand it. If it doesn’t work well, we’ll review it,” he added.
