Spring tournament fest arrives
Spring is a time of year that all online tournament player know and love. PokerStars’ SCOOP has been around for many years, and is one of numerous tournament options for players, as PartyPoker’s Powerfest and 888Poker’s XL Infernos also get underway around the same time.
The list of online tournament options for most players in the world as always been long, but in China, this hasn’t always been the case. Chinese Online Giant Ourgame are doing their best to resolve this situation through their online platform Poker Monster though, and will be bringing their LZCOOP series back for its second edition this spring. If that isn’t reason enough for players to be excited, a prize pool of 17.5 billion ‘Golds’ (US$175,000 approximately) is guaranteed for the Main Event.
About Poker Monster
Ourgame own the WPT brand, having purchased it for $35 million back in 2015 as well as owning Poker Monster. Games on Poker Monster only offer Golds as prizes, so as not to break Chinese law by offering actual cash.
These Golds can be exchanged for real cash later by an outside party (such as Somuchpoker). Poker Monster has been operating in this way for years, offering Chinese players the chance to enjoy poker online, and to win seats to major live events such as WPT Sanya. Since 2016, the site has also been open to the entire international market, with the PC and Android Software now having been translated into English.
The LZCOOP festival will be purely Texas Hold’em orientated, but a number of formats will be explored during the schedule.
Among the biggest tournaments with the most eye-catching prizes are Event 3 “Millions SE” on April 30th which has a 32 million Golds (US$320 approximately) buy in and a prize pool of 12 billion Golds (US$120,000 approximately), and Events 11 and 15 on the 2nd and 3rd of May; each has a prize pool of 5 billion Golds (US$50,000 approximately).
These are followed up by ‘The Storm’ which is a High-Roller event on May 6th with a 105 million Golds (US$1,050 approximately) buy-in and a prize-pool of 10 billion Golds (US$100,000 approximately).
The festival is will conclude with the Main Event on May 7th. This will feature a buy-in of 53 million Golds (US$530 approximately) and will have a guaranteed prize-pool of 17.5 billion Golds (US$175,000 approximately).
This great festival is certainly one of the best events on offer for those who enjoy tournaments, but Poker Monster has much more than that scheduled, with regular weekly tournaments with large guarantees, and satellite tournaments where players can win a seat into WPT events.
