Quang Nguyen has done it! The last hand of the Main Event has been dealt! Quang Nguyen shoved with , SJ Kim tossed in the one-chip call with , and they were off to the races. The board came down no help for Kim. The turn gave Kim more outs to overtake. But it was not to be. The river was not the black card he needed. Kim was eliminated in 2nd place and earned VND 1,134,820,000.
Quang Nguyen became the newest APL Man Event champion! He takes home the hefty VND 1,618,750,000 first place cash prize.

Quang Nguyen picked up three rounds of blinds and antes with SJ Kim folding. The fourth pot saw Kim raise to 550k and Quang called. The flop was checked by both. The turn Quang led out for 475k and won it. Kim down to 3M, Quang up to 11M.

Quang Nguyen starting to distance himself further. He now has a 3:1 chip lead after this hand. He raised to 550k preflop and SJ Kim called. The flop , both checked. On the turn, Kim led for 450k, called by Quang. Then the river it was back to checking. Kim showed king high but Quang had better with pair. Kim down to 4.5M, Quang at 10M.

Quang Nguyen claimed two pots to bring his stack upwards of 9.5M. The first winner, he raised to 575k preflop and Kim called. The flop , he c-bet 425k, Kim check-folded.
Next hand Quang called Kim’s 550k raise and saw a flop . He check-called Kim’s 350k bet, did the same on the turn for a 650k bet, then on the river, both checked it and Quang won with two pair. Kim mucked.

Quang Nguyen has taken the chip lead! The hand began with a 450k raise by Quang, answered with a shove by Kim. Quang tanked then found the courage to call for his tournament life.

Quang Nguyen shoved with and was in danger of elimination with Kim holding . The flop ran dry , but when the turn landed, the rail roared with Vietnam’s Quang pairing up. Then with the river , his pair held to ship a double up to 5,380,000. Kim dropped to 9,130,000.

Alex Choi entered numerous pots that saw his stack swing wildly. This time around, it wasn’t able to swing upwards and met his end at the hands of Thien An. Action kicked off with Choi all in with 110k, button player Cao Ngoc Anh called followed by Thien An on the big blind. When the board ran , no bets landed. Choi opened , Cao with , and with Thien pair, it was the end for Choi in 12th place. He earned VND 134,690,000.

APL Vietnam Main Event defending champion Yin How Lew staged a good run for a back-to-back but he couldn’t quite bring it past 14th place. He went all in with his short 200k, got called by Nguyen Thanh and lost the bout. Yin held , Thanh , the board ran for a higher pair spiked by Thanh. Yin earned VND 107,700,000.

Welcome to Day 2 of the APL Ho Chi Minh City Road Series Vol.3 MAIN EVENT! We are kicking off at 1pm. 147 players out of the 587 entries return for another round to reach the top. The prize pool exceeded the guarantee. Players are looking at a VND 8,540,850,000 (~US$366,300K) pot. Only half will see the money with 74 places paid. The lowest payout is a mincash of VND 21,610,000 but what everyone will be gunning for is the VND 1,618,750,000 (~US$69,300) first prize.
Coming in with the overall largest stack from the starting heats is China’s Xuewei Li with 325,800. He will have his hands full with Korean pro SJ Kim at his table. Also seated with him are Phan Trong Linh and the lone Filipino player in the field, Eugene Co.
Plenty of decorated champions and notable pros will be scattered around the room today. Among them are the defending champion Yin How Lew, Tzai Phua Wei, Linh Tran, Cao Ngoc Anh, Huy Pham, Feng Zhao, Huu Dung Nguyen, Iori Yogo, and Tetsuya Tsuchikawa.

The games are back on at Pro Poker with the third starting day heating things up. The past two days drew a combined 170 entries with 46 through to Day 2. The man at the helm is currently Norbert Koh with 209,200. That’s the mark to beat.
If you are just getting in, buy-in is VND 16.5M with unlimited re-entries until the start of Level 10. That should give everyone plenty of chances to be part of the action.
Players start with a 25,000 stack. Blinds increase every 40 minutes. There will be a dinner break at the end of Level 9. Remaining players will bag up at the end of Level 14. Cards in the air at 1pm local time.

After losing a majority of his big stack to Nicholas Burgers, Pegasus entered another hand and still couldn’t win. The rest of his chips were claimed by Bobby Zhang. Pegasus raised to 2700 and got called by both SJ Kim and Zhang. At the flop , Zhang checked, Pegasus c-bet 9k, Kim folded, Zhang shoved, and Pegasus went all in as well with less chips.

By the rate Norbert Koh is picking up chips during these last rounds, he may well surpass the Day 1A chip leader, Xiaoyin He who bagged up 205,200. As of now, Koh sits with around 205k after winning this pot against Quoc Chinh. The hand initially had three in the pot. On the flop and a 24k pot brewed, utg Koh checked, mid-position checked, hijack bet 11.1k, Koh raised to 24k, mp folded, hijack jammed 50k, and Koh called.

Getting to the action on the river betting, the board showed . A 35k pot was already weighing down the middle. Julien Tran shoved his short stack from utg+1 seat and got called by mid-position Cuong Trinh. Tran doubled up with nuts straight. Trinh mucked. Tran up to 65k, Trinh down to 110k.

The heat is on here with only four tables remaining. Next to double up was SJ Kim but he had to sweat it first. The hand began with Tuan Anh bumping it up to 2200, Steffen Endres three-bet to 9k, Kim shoved for 22k, Anh folded but Endres with the call.

Hai Chuot went head to head against the chip leader Tuan Anh and turned the tides his direction. On a flop and 13k in the middle, Hai bet 6500, Anh shoved his massive stack, and Hai called for his tournament life. Hai top pair, Anh open ended / flush draw, the turn and river were none of Anh’s outs and Hai doubled up to 125k. Anh tumbled down to 70k.

On the turn , Koh slowed down and checked, db switched up bet 6500, Koh called. On the river, Koh checked again, db bet 8700, Koh thought about it then called. Big guns have been stationed at table 7 for some time but we seem to miss the good pots. One decent hand we caught the board was , Bobby Zhang checked, Hai Chuot checked, Lim Yohwan bet 4k onto a 9k pot. Zhang called, Hai raised to 15k, Yohwan folded, then back to Zhang who called. The river saw no bets and Hai won with two pair over Zhang’s .
7:25PM: Tuan Anh climbs to 130k

Tuan Anh claimed a sizable pot against Thanh Hai to bring his stack to 130k. Action began with utg Hai rasing to 2200. He was called by three players that included Anh. At the flop , Hai bet 4200 and only Anh called. On the turn, Hai checked, Anh bet 12.2k, Hai called. On the river, Hai fired out 31k and Anh called. Anh showed his two pair and Hai mucked.

We only caught the action on the flop 6-7-8 with Quoc Vu all in holding K-K and Norbert Koh putting the heat on with 9-8. The turn 9 and river 8 improved Koh to a full house to ship in the pot and boot out Vu.

On a raised pot preflop to 10k, the board felted , both Minh Le and Tuan Anh checked. On the turn, Anh bet 6200, Minh raised to 15.2k, Anh tanked then eventually folded.

Pegasus called an 800 raise and two players also joined before flop . Initial raiser c-bet 5600, Pegasus and one player called while the other folded. On the turn, the aggressor shoved his 35k stack and only Pegasus called. All in player had J-9 top pair, Pegasus 3-3 set, Pegasus shipped it while the aggressor shipped out. Pegasus up to 125k.

From mid-position, Huy Coshet raised to 900, was called by the small blind, but big blind Tan Wah Meng raised it to a huge 5k bet. Huy Coshet called and sb folded. At the flop , Meng shoved his 40k stack sending Huy Coshet tanking. Meng eventually won the pot with no call. Meng up to 55k.

Julien Tran plummeted on this hand down to just 6k while the player on the receiving end, Cuong Trinh, zoomed to 80k. Trinh kicked off the hand with a raise to 1100 from utg. Tran three-bet to 3600 from cutoff, and Trinh called. At the flop A-J-3, both checked. The turn was a 6. Tran bet 3500 and Trinh check-called. The on the King river Trinh initiated the betting with 11k, Tran shoved, and Trinh went all in as well. Tran with A-A set, Trinh Q-10 straight.

Natalie Teh quickly re-entered after falling at the hands of Jack En-Ching Wu. Preflop action saw a 1k raise from Wu, called by two players before reaching sb Teh who three-bet to 5500. Wu called followed by two folds for a one-on-one. At the flop , Teh c-bet 6k and Wu flat-called. On the turn, Teh bet 11k and Wu called. On the river, Teh shoved her 20k stack and Wu matched it right up. Teh showed bottom pair missed draw and was way behind Wu’s . Wu climbed to 85k.

Phan Trong Linh was one of the finalists of the inaugural DeepStack Open Vietnam event. He is back at the races looking to secure another good score. He recently doubled up to help him build his stack to get there. On a turn board and 18k already brewed, Linh checked, Chen Tian Ai shoved 14,525, and Linh called. Chen held ace-high and Linh was ahead with top pair. Linh shipped it after the river . He now has 42k.

Hyper Turbo winner Shyh Chyn Lim sent the rest of his short stack in the middle with to hopefully help him get back up but he couldn’t get past Norbert Koh’s . Lim quckly got up and re-entered.

Yesterday’s No Limit Hold’em BB Ante event resumed from a night’s break with the final 8 players on the feature table. There were 63 entries for a prize pool of VND 305,550,000 (US$13,100). This is the second of four starting days offered. For a buy-in of VND 16.5M, players receive a 25,000 starting stack with opening blinds at 25/50. Blinds increase every 40 minutes. For late-comers, registration closes at the start of Level 10. There will be a dinner break just before that at the end of Level 9.
At yesterday’s Day 1A heat, out of the 82 that entered, only 24 made the cut to Day 2. China’s Xiaoyin He bagged up the lead with 205,200 in chips. Michael Kim Falcon earned second rank with 184,300, and Vietnam’s own Dang Xuan Canh in third position with 154,500. Players can attempt for multiple stacks but keep in mind, only your best stack advances.

Truc Tran looked like he was about to send Dang Xuan Canh to the exit however the river had other plans, chunking him down instead. The hand saw a raise to 4100 by Truc from the lo-jack seat and big blind Dang called. Pham Bao was just booted out in a stunning nine-high call by Dang Xuan Canh. The hand began with Dang raising to 2k from hijack, and Pham defending on the big blind. Both players checked all the way to the river . Pham shoved his 12.3k stack sending Dang tanking. Dang somehow found the courage to call and it was shockingly a good one.
