Quang Nguyen has done it! The last hand of the Main Event has been dealt! Quang Nguyen shoved with 3c3h, SJ Kim tossed in the one-chip call with Ac4h, and they were off to the races. The board came down 7c7h2c no help for Kim. The turn Qc gave Kim more outs to overtake. But it was not to be. The river 10s was not the black card he needed. Kim was eliminated in 2nd place and earned VND 1,134,820,000.

Quang Nguyen became the newest APL Man Event champion! He takes home the hefty VND 1,618,750,000 first place cash prize.

Quang Nguyen picked up three rounds of blinds and antes with SJ Kim folding. The fourth pot saw Kim raise to 550k and Quang  called. The flop 8h7d9d was checked by both. The 2h turn Quang led out for 475k and won it. Kim down to 3M, Quang up to 11M.


6:35PM: Quang Nguyen up to 10M

Quang Nguyen starting to distance himself further. He now has a 3:1 chip lead after this hand. He raised to 550k preflop and SJ Kim called. The flop 7h10d4c, both checked. On the 3c turn, Kim led for 450k, called by Quang. Then the river 2s it was back to checking. Kim showed Kc8c king high but Quang had better with Jd4d pair. Kim down to 4.5M, Quang at 10M.


6:25PM: Quang Nguyen takes two in new level

Quang Nguyen claimed two pots to bring his stack upwards of 9.5M. The first winner, he raised to 575k preflop and Kim called. The flop 10d2dKc, he c-bet 425k, Kim check-folded.

Next hand Quang called Kim’s 550k raise and saw a flop JcJs3s. He check-called Kim’s 350k bet, did the same on the 4c turn for a 650k bet, then on the 6h river, both checked it and Quang won with 3h4h two pair. Kim mucked.


6:15PM: SJ Kim earns a big one

SJ Kim took down a big pot to close the gap between him and Quang Nguyen. He raised to 450k preflop and Quang called. At the flop 3s7s6d, Quang checked, Kim bet 350k Quang raised to 950k, Kim three-bet to 2.595M, Quang folded.

Quang Nguyen has taken the chip lead! The hand began with a 450k raise by Quang, answered with a shove by Kim. Quang tanked then found the courage to call for his tournament life.

Two pots for SJ Kim with the first on seeing a raise preflop from Kim to 350k, called by Quang Nguyen. At the flop 9c7c9s, he bet again and won it with Quang folding.

Next winning pot, he raised again to 350k and Quang called from the big blind. The flop 6h6d4c, Quang checked, Kim c-bet 350k, called by Quang. The turn 7d was checked by both and the river felted Ac. Quang checked, Kim laid out 450k, Quang called. Kim showed his KhKd and scooped it up with Quang mucking.

Quang Nguyen shoved with Kc9d and was in danger of elimination with Kim holding Ad8d. The flop ran dry 7s7c2d, but when the turn Kh landed, the rail roared with Vietnam’s Quang pairing up. Then with the river 5c, his pair held to ship a double up to 5,380,000. Kim dropped to 9,130,000.

Big wild and crazy hand just sent Minh Le crashing to the rail! He opened from the button to 360k and big blind SJ Kim defended. At the flop 8h8d6h, both checked. On the 6c turn, Kim bet 250k, Minh called. On the 6s river, Kim slid out 585k, Minh shoved his over 2M stack, Kim snap-called.

Minh’s fantastic run at the Main Event ended in 3rd place. He earned VND 729,730,000 (~US$31,200)and has set a new personal record for his largest cash and deepest Main Event run.  


4:30PM: SJ Kim dominating, reaches 7.8M

SJ Kim is taking charge of the table picking up another pot to boost his stack to 7.8M. The recent winning hand he raised to 350k from the button, both blinds called. On the flop 8d8h8c, blinds checked, Kim bet 450k, won it with no callers.


4:25PM: SJ Kim vs Minh Le

Light action here…. one decent hand saw SJ Kim limp from the small blind and Minh Le check. The flop JcKc3h, Kim bet 125k, Minh called. On the 8h turn, Kim bet 260k and won it with Minh folding.

Quang Nguyen raised to 255k from the button, SJ Kim and Minh Le called for a three-way to the flop Ac2c8h. The blinds checked, Quang c-bet 350k that found one caller in Kim. The turn 10s, no bets. The river 2h Kim bet 375k, Quang called. Kim Ad3c for two pair, Quang mucked.

Kim up to 7.5M, Quang down to 2.54M. Minh 4.4M.


4:15PM: Quang Nguyen picks off the bluff

Quang Nguyen opened with a 260k raise, called by big blind SJ Kim. The flop 10h5s3h and turn 9c saw no bets. The river Js, Quang-check called Kim’s 275k bet and won it with 7s7c pair over Qd2d queen high.

SJ Kim claimed three pots with the third one fairly hefty. From small blind, he raised to 275k and Minh Le defended on the big blind. The flop 10c6sKd, Kim c-bet 250k, called by Minh. On the 9s turn, Kim sent out 360k, and Minh called. Then on the river Kh, Minh folded to a 575k bet.

Kim goes up to 6.5M, Minh dropped to 4.6M. Quang at 3M.

Button SJ Kim raised to 225k and Quang defended on the big blind. The flop 3hJh10s, and turn 3s saw both check. On the river Js, Quang checked, Kim bet 250k, Quang paid to see and mucked to Kim’s Qs10h two pair. Kim proceeded to win the next hand and rose to around 5.3M.

Quang Nguyen is having it rough ride at the moment with SJ Kim taking a chunk from him and now Minh Le. Button Quang raised to 225k and Minh defended on the big blind. The flop 10cQd4c, Quang check-called a 250k bet and the turn came 4d. No bets by either and the river 5c was felted. Minh bet 650k and Quang called. Minh opened 9c2c flush and Quang mucked. Minh up to 6M, Quang dropped to 3.8M.

Next hand, Anh raised to 170k from utg, cutoff Minh Le called, and big blind Kim called. On the flop QcKc5d, action was checked to Minh, he bet 375k, Kim folded while Anh raised to 875k. Minh answered with a shove and Anh folded. Anh down to 1.9M, Minh up to 6.3M.

The flop Jd5d9c, Thanh checked, Kim c-bet 210k, Thanh called. On the 3c turn, Thanh check, Kim bet 385k, Thanh all in, Kim snap call.

Everyone folded around to sb Quang who raised to 500k and bb Dau called with less (345k). Dau Kc8d, Quang Jd8h, a jack landed on the flop 2d7cJs5h2c and Quang sent Dau out of the running. Dau earned VND 161,930,000.

Choi opened AxQx, Cao with Jx10x, and with Thien 6x7x pair, it was the end for Choi in 12th place. He earned VND 134,690,000.

The prize pool exceeded the guarantee. Players are looking at a VND 8,540,850,000 (~US$366,300K) pot.  Only half will see the money with 74 places paid. The lowest payout is a mincash of VND 21,610,000 but what everyone will be gunning for is the VND 1,618,750,000 (~US$69,300) first prize.

Plenty of decorated champions and notable pros will be scattered around the room today. Among them are the defending champion Yin How Lew, Tzai Phua Wei, Linh Tran, Cao Ngoc Anh, Huy Pham, Feng Zhao, Huu Dung Nguyen, Iori Yogo, and Tetsuya Tsuchikawa.

The games are back on at Pro Poker with the third starting day heating things up. The past two days drew a combined 170 entries with 46 through to Day 2. The man at the helm is currently Norbert Koh with 209,200. That’s the mark to beat.

If you are just getting in, buy-in is VND 16.5M with unlimited re-entries until the start of Level 10. That should give everyone plenty of chances to be part of the action.

Players start with a 25,000 stack. Blinds increase every 40 minutes. There will be a dinner break at the end of Level 9. Remaining players will bag up at the end of Level 14. Cards in the air at 1pm local time.

The next hand Yogo’s Ad10d completed a nut flush on the river to boot a player.

On a board 2h7s7c10s5c and a pot of 25k already in the middle, utg Chi Thanh bet 13.6k, Cuong Trinh shoved with a stack that well covered Thanh. Thanh tank-folded. Trinh climbs to 175k.

Norbert Koh earned himself a sizable pot by calling down with just ace high. We only saw the action on the river but one player helped fill in some of the details. Action folded around the orbit to the button player, he raised. Sb player Koh three-bet, and back to db who called. At the flop 10x10x7x, Koh led for 2500, db called. On the turn 9x,  Koh slowed down and checked, db switched up bet 6500, Koh called. On the 4x river, Koh checked again, db bet 8700, Koh thought about it then called. Db showed QxJx miss, and Koh won with AxJx ace high.

One decent hand we caught the board was Qc3cAd2s, Bobby Zhang checked, Hai Chuot checked, Lim Yohwan bet 4k onto a 9k pot. Zhang called, Hai raised to 15k, Yohwan folded, then back to Zhang who called. The river 8h saw no bets and Hai won with Ac2c two pair over Zhang’s AsJh.

From mid-position, Huy Coshet raised to 900, was called by the small blind, but big blind Tan Wah Meng raised it to a huge 5k bet. Huy Coshet  called and sb folded. At the flop 10cAsKs, Meng shoved his 40k stack sending Huy Coshet tanking. Meng eventually won the pot with no call. Meng up to 55k.


6:10PM: Julien Tran’s aces cracked!

4:55PM: Phan Trong Linh edges Kim Jun Han

Phan Trong Linh was one of the finalists of the inaugural DeepStack Open Vietnam event. He is back at the races looking to secure another good score. He recently doubled up to help him build his stack to get there. On a turn board 2hKd7d3c and 18k already brewed, Linh checked, Chen Tian Ai shoved 14,525, and Linh called. Chen held Ac10s ace-high and Linh was ahead with Kc10c top pair. Linh shipped it after the river 4s. He now has 42k.


3:50PM: Norbert Koh rails Shyh Chyn Lim

Hyper Turbo winner Shyh Chyn Lim sent the rest of his short stack in the middle with Jh10d to hopefully help him get back up but he couldn’t get past Norbert Koh’s AhAd. Lim quckly got up and re-entered.

This is the second of four starting days offered. For a buy-in of VND 16.5M, players receive a 25,000 starting stack with opening blinds at 25/50. Blinds increase every 40 minutes. For late-comers, registration closes at the start of Level 10. There will be a dinner break just before that at the end of Level 9.

At yesterday’s Day 1A heat, out of the 82 that entered, only 24 made the cut to Day 2. China’s Xiaoyin He bagged up the lead with 205,200 in chips. Michael Kim Falcon earned second rank with 184,300, and Vietnam’s own Dang Xuan Canh in third position with 154,500. Players can attempt for multiple stacks but keep in mind, only your best stack advances.

During the last hands called, Michael Kim Falcon faced the chip leader at his table, Korean player Hansol Choi, and won both meetings. On the 6d turn, Falcon jammed over 80k, Hansol tanked and said he had overpair, but couldn’t bring himself to call. Falcon won the pot and showed his 4h4s set.

The hand saw a raise to 4100 by Truc from the lo-jack seat and big blind Dang called. Hwang Sang Yeon held a stack below starting stack for a large part of the day. Looking down at AdQs, he risked it all and got called by Bounab Hakim with KsJd. The board ran QdKh8cKcJc to send Hwang packing up.

8:30PM: Dang Xuan Canh rails Pham Bao with nine-high

Pham Bao was just booted out in a stunning nine-high call by Dang Xuan Canh. The hand began with Dang raising to 2k from hijack, and Pham defending on the big blind. Both players checked all the way to the river AhQs7hQcAd. Pham shoved his 12.3k stack sending Dang tanking. Dang somehow found the courage to call and it was shockingly a good one. Pham had 5c3s which meant he played the board while Dang held 9d7d for a nine-high win. Dang!

Sao Bac Dau raised to 2600 then called Phuoc Vinh’s 6k three-bet. At the flop 5h4c7c, Sao bet 12k and Vinh called. On the Qh turn, Sao jammed and won the pot with Vinh folding up. Sao up to 135k.


7:20PM: Truc Tran spikes a two-outer

Ten minutes ago Truc Tran scored a double off SJ Kim. He landed another stack boost this time in a shocking two-outer against Long Lam. Long raised to 1800 from mid-position, Truc three-bet to 3125, Long called. At the flop 3c5s9c, Long checked, Truc bet 2500, Long raised to 5500, Truc shoved, and a snap call from Long.

On the 6c turn, she bet 3500 and this time only Aigars joined while Le folded. On the river 3h Teh shoved her remaining 6500 and Aigars check-called once more. Teh showed 7d7s full house for a double up. Aigars showed his pocket tens.

Back on the felt, Van is at it again and is currently sitting with around 70k. He won some of those chips on this hand. He raised to 700 and found four callers to join him at the flop Ac6s3s. Action was checked to him, he c-bet 1900 and the button player called. On the Ah turn, no bets landed. On the river Qc, Van bet 2k, got called, then won the pot with Ad3d.


4:45PM: Steffen Endres doubles up through DSO winner

DeepStack Open champion Hwang Sang Yeon and Steffen Endres reached the river on this hand 3s8c9h6c3c wit a pot of 18k already brewed. Hwang checked, Endres moved all in for 14,675, Hwang decided to call showing his AhQh ace high. Endres won it with JcQc flush for a double up.

From utg, Dang opened with a raise and found three callers to join him to the flop 9c7c10h. After the blinds checked, Dang c-bet 700, a mid-position player raised to 1600, sb folded, bb called, and back to Dang who re-raised to 5200. Both players called. On the Qd turn, bb checked, Dang slid out 22.4k which was enough to cover the stacks of both of his opponents, and he won the pot with both folding. Dang showed one card 8h.


3:25PM: Heavy hitting Phoc Vinh

Phoc Vinh put some muscle in for this pot. He raised from mid position then faced a three-bet of 1900 from the button player. Action rolled back to Vinh and he pumped it up to over 5K, and db called. On the flop and turn Ad8s3c3s, both checked. On the 6d river Vinh bet 11k and won it with no call. Vinh showed his AcAs hole cards.

Next hand, four players in on a raised pot preflop. Everyone checked the flop to bring on a turn board of Qs7s6sKh. Big blind Long bet 700 onto the 2k pot, Erik Billgren called, one player folded, sb Kim check-raised to 3100, called by both Long and Billgren. On the 3s turn, Kim fired out 8k and won it with both Lam and Billgren folding.


2:15PM: Michael Kim Falcon in action

Hard-punching Michael Kim Falcon dropped down to a short 5k stack and pushed all in with Jh9d. He was called by a player with AdKc. The board ran 7c5d10dJs8h giving him a straight for a double up. Several hands later, his continued aggression sent him to the rail and quickly re-entered.

At the new table with blinds having increased to 75/150, we caught him win a pot. He raised to 500 preflop and found three callers. At the flop 7hQc5h, Falcon c-bet 1k and only Christopher Mateo called. On the 3h turn, both checked. Then on the 9d river, Falcon fired 3k and Mateo folded.
