Poker & Travel Guide

Taipei is a vibrant metropolis in the heart of Taiwan. For poker travelers, Taipei is one of the most welcoming destinations, where the CTP (Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association) provides a professional environment for all players. The April weather is pleasant, making it ideal for exploring the city.

Official Poker Guide (Rules & Structures)

APL events follow international TDA rules, with most tournaments utilizing a Big Blind Ante format. The blind structures allow for deep-stack play, especially in the featured Main Event and High Roller competitions.

Registration & Buy-in Information

Registration takes place at the main desk of the venue, where players must present a valid photo ID. Buy-ins must be paid in Taiwan Dollars (TWD) at the on-site cages.

Destination Guide & Must See

The atmosphere of the city is incredible. We highly recommend spending at least one evening exploring the local culinary scene in Taipei.

Top Attractions:

  • Taipei 101: The city’s iconic skyscraper.
  • Shilin Night Market: The largest night market, where players can relax after their sessions.
  • Longshan Temple: One of the oldest and most beautiful temples in Taipei.

Travel Essentials

  • Airport Transfer: The airport is approximately 40 minutes by taxi from the city center.
  • Transportation: The Taipei MRT (subway) is extremely fast and efficient; an EasyCard is recommended.
  • Grab App: While city taxis are reliable, using the app is highly recommended for players.

The Tournament Experience

The Arena is strictly a tournament destination, as cash games are not permitted under Taiwan’s current legal framework. Action runs daily, typically starting at 11:00 AM and continuing until the final table of the night concludes. Buy-ins for daily events usually range from TWD 1,000 to TWD 4,000 (~$30–$125), making it accessible for local enthusiasts.

For the more serious grinders, the venue hosts major regional series like the Taiwan Millions Tournament (TMT) , Zodiac Series of Poker (ZSOP) , Players Series (PS) , Asia Poker Championship (APC) , and Ola Poker Tour . During these festivals, buy-ins scale significantly, with Main Events around TWD 9,000–45,000 (~$285–$1,425) and High Roller events reaching upwards of TWD 100,000. The facility even includes a dedicated section for Match Poker, a team-based variation that has gained significant traction in Taiwan.
