Joanne Jishung (J.J) Liu is a 50 year old professional poker player from Taiwan. She is one of only a small number of famous female Asian poker players, and has been playing major live tournaments for over 20 years. Her accomplishments in the game are numerous, but the results that follow, represent some of the highlights.
Winning the World Poker Challenge in May 2005 for just under USD $90,000 was an improvement on her previous best score of USD$43,300 back in 1997. 4thplace in a WPT event in December 2005 led to a huge score of USD$362,140 which was followed two years later by 2ndplace at WPT Bay 101 Shooting Stars for a career best USD$600,000. JJ Liu also won a deep stack event in 2008 for over USD$167,000 and 2010 saw two more deep WPT runs as she pocketed USD$100,000 combined, for 8thand 13thplace in WPT events. She followed that up with 3rdand 7thplace in WSOP events for over USD$108,000. An APPT High Roller event during 2014 in Macau showed the world she still had what it took to compete, as she won the event for USD$181,135. There have been a number of 5 figure scores since then, including a USD$56,790 cash in 2015.
Always impeccably dressed, polite, and yet fiercely competitive at the poker table, J.J Liu remains a great role model for female players in the game of poker.
