Kannapong Thanarattrakul, often known by his nickname “Tent,” is a professional poker player from Thailand who has quickly risen to become one of the most successful players in Asian poker history. Based in Bangkok, he is a key member of the Natural8 ambassador team and is widely respected for his calm demeanor and technical skill. While he has been active for several years, he truly exploded onto the global stage in 2022. As the second-highest earner on Thailand’s All Time Money List, he has become a source of inspiration for a new generation of Thai players looking to compete at the highest levels of the game.

Career Earnings & Biggest Results

With over $3.8 millions in total live earnings, Kannapong Thanarattrakul currently ranks 2nd on the Thailand All Time Money List. According to The Hendon Mob, his career-best live cash of $646,500  was achieved in September 2022 at the WSOP Online Main Event ONLINE, where he outlasted a massive field of 4,984 entries to win the $2,094,885 runner-up prize.

The years 2024 and 2025 have seen Thanarattrakul reach new heights in the “nosebleed” stakes. His recent good records include a string of elite results in the latter half of 2025. In September 2025, he secured a massive score of $717,000 for a 5th-place finish in the Triton Poker Jeju $100,000 NLH Main Event. He followed this with another deep run in December 2025 at WSOP Paradise, where he finished 4th in the $100,000 Triton NLH Main Event for $1,170,000. Earlier in May 2025, he also recorded a 4th-place finish in the Triton Montenegro $50,000 NLH 7-Handed event for $452,000.

Biography & Poker Background

Born in Thailand, Kannapong Thanarattrakul began his poker journey in the online world before transitioning to live tournaments around 2018. Like many pros, he faced a quiet period during the pandemic years but used that time to sharpen his strategy. When live poker returned, he reappeared as a much more dangerous player, immediately finding success on the Triton Super High Roller circuit. As an ambassador for Natural8, he has become a prominent voice for the Thai poker community, often sharing his knowledge and experiences through social media and content creation. His rise from local tournaments to $100,000 buy-in events has made him one of the most recognizable faces in Asian poker today.

Play Style & Strategy

Thanarattrakul is best known for his calculated and technical style of play. Having a background in high-stakes online tournaments, he is very comfortable with the mathematical side of the game and relies heavily on solid fundamentals. At the table, he is often praised for his patience and mental discipline, which allows him to stay focused during the long hours of multi-day events. While he can play a very disciplined game, he is not afraid to pull off bold bluffs when he senses an opportunity to put pressure on his opponents. This ability to switch gears, playing tight when necessary but remaining aggressive in key spots, makes him a very difficult opponent to read, especially in the elite fields of the Triton and EPT tours.
