Chaar-Lee discovered poker over 20 years ago, starting with fixed-limit games before embracing the rise of No-Limit Hold’em across cash games, STTs, and MTTs. In the early days, he and his circle sometimes played more than 40 different formats in a single night. He organized the first poker camp in his region and has contributed poker technology to several televised shows. Today, he supports the SOMUCHPOKER team from the tech side, blending two decades of poker passion with technical expertise.

Sean Ooi is a young poker professional originally from Malaysia. The 22-year-old now resides in Melbourne where he obtained an Economics and Finance degree. Barely 2 years on the live poker tour, Ooi has already breached the 500K in career earnings and is nearing the 1 million mark. He is currently number 7 in the GPI Malaysian National Rankings.

Sean Ooi made his mark on the felt right off the gates. In only his first tournament, the Malaysian immediately picked up two wins in the NLH Terminator and Mini High Roller Events of the Australian Poker League Poker Tour Tasmania at Wrest Point Hobart. A few months later, in July, Ooi returned to his motherland for twin wins at the Poker Dream Malaysia 2022. In the process, he picked up his first 5-figure live cash of $ 16,380 at the Deep Stack Event.

Sean Ooi would come back to Australian live felt action, making a deep run at the Australian Poker League Poker Tour Albury, pick up a first Sydney title at the Australian Poker Poker Tour Sydney Season V and a win at the World Poker Tour League Championship Tweed Coast.

Recent Years

Sean Ooi would continue his sizzling form through 2023, opening the year with a table finish at the Australian Poker League – Southport Sharks banking his fourth biggest live cash at $ 21,536. Ooi would clinch a second Sydney title in March at the Asian Poker Tour Sydney, Campbelltown with a big payoff of $ 44,247. Then in August, the Malaysian crusher would capture the biggest tournament of his young career, emerging champion of the Australian Poker League Million Main Event. Ooi smoked a field of 2,497 entries to also earn a career best cash of $ 380,250.

2024 would start no differently for Sean Ooi except that he would bring his skills to Taipei, first winning at the U Series of Poker Taiwan High-Roller Bounty Hunter. Then make a successful run at the Asian Poker Tour Taipei picking up runner up and first place finishes in the Single Day High Roller Events. The triple wins would combine for a first quarter paycheck of $129,034.

Not bad for the rising star who has just barely explored the poker universe.
