WSOP 2026 – Moment of the Day – 18 June – Unshuffled

Here in the Moment of the Day of the WSOP 2026 , we’ve seen the GOAT dealer, Ray J , showing how to do a proper shuffle. Another memorable moment was at the end of the spectrum, which looked like a slow-motion video , but the card still got shuffled. But yesterday, even this basic requirement was not met.
Dario Sammartino posted a story on Instagram about two consecutive hands in which all the cards dealt to the players and on the board were the same. It is hard to imagine any other scenario in which the second hand featured an unshuffled deck from a faulty shuffling machine.

Automatic card shuffling machines have one job: to shuffle the cards. Although mistakes happen, these kind of errors can be very costly for players and undermine general trust in the process. The biggest event in the industry, the World Series of Poker, has every moment documented by media coverage. This case seems to be a perfect example for poker conteo believers to remember for years.

As philthebeast presents his thoughts on Sammartino’s Instagram story looking for an explanation, multiple comments on TikTok suggested it was not an error of the machine, but a mistake from the dealer’s side:
Shuffler was in sort mode so it set the deck in order. Unfortunately I’ve seen this happen before
Unshuffled Deck – Another Mistake That Can Happen Anytime
Whatever happened, mistakes are inevitable at an event of multiple thousands of players and dealers, such as the WSOP. At least we are here to share these interesting moments with you. We might even help you to strengthen your trust in RNGs, which are used for card shuffling in online poker games . Whether you prefer playing live or online, have fun!
My journey in the world of poker (and later casino, sportsbetting) started more than 20 years ago, when I first attended a low-stakes live tournament. I’ve never looked back since, and have been active in several fields, including being a poker player, a live tournament director, writing online and offline articles about poker, and managing the localization of one of the world's largest online poker rooms. Poker is my home ground, I could never imagine doing a job that is not a part of it. I hope someday I’ll have more time to play live; that's something I've missed in the past few years. A game where luck meets skill - what would be more interesting?
