My journey in the world of poker (and later casino, sportsbetting) started more than 20 years ago, when I first attended a low-stakes live tournament. I’ve never looked back since, and have been active in several fields, including being a poker player, a live tournament director, writing online and offline articles about poker, and managing the localization of one of the world's largest online poker rooms. Poker is my home ground, I could never imagine doing a job that is not a part of it. I hope someday I’ll have more time to play live; that's something I've missed in the past few years. A game where luck meets skill - what would be more interesting?

WSOP 2026 – Moment of the Day

We have an interesting, shocking, amusing, entertaining, or stunning Moment of the Day throughout the 2026 WSOP . Let’s see what is on offer from 7 June.

The title might be a little misleading, as this time it was not a moment of the day but rather long minutes for a specific poker dealer…

A video on X (formerly Twitter) went viral, which shows an actual recording of dealing the preflop cards in a standard Texas Hold’em poker hand. Watching this particular short video, even seasoned veterans stood stunned in awe as the dealer… well, took his time to make sure no mistakes were made.

Moment of the Day – the best comments on the topic

Yes, this year’s WSOP is huge with 100 bracelet events . Yes, we know dealers’ abilities can be different. But players have legitimate expectations for the quality of the biggest live poker event of the year for the amount of fee they pay. Here are the top3 most interesting comments from the thread from different points of view.

POV of a fellow dealer:

I’m a dealer as well and I’m all for supporting them. However, there should not be newbie dealers for WSOP events. These guys need to deal a months worth of daily tournaments prior to dealing for events.

POV of a professional player:

Now imagine spending 3k+ to sit there and watch that happen. Huge joke

POV of a local:

2100 dealers, 400 brand new. They train and audition at dealer schools around the valley. All the regular dealers in LV already have jobs.

Conclusion

The takeaway from this case can be summed up in 5 simple points:

  1. WSOP has an enormous demand for dealers – but only for 1,5 month of the year
  2. More skillful personnel is used at televised tables, 2nd days, high roller events, so smaller or non-bracelet events and satellites get dealers with less experience
  3. The pay is not appealing enough for professional dealers with a regular job to come to Las Vegas for the WSOP (allegedly half of the regular rate)
  4. The training new WSOP dealers get is on a basic level, and there is not much opportunity to practice
  5. The new Dealer Rating System might help organizers recognize and address these kinds of issues
