APT Taipei 2025 Main Event Smashes NT$ 70M Guarantee with 1,577 Entries And Counting; Ka Chun Yuan Bags Day 1B Lead
Another record breaker? Sure looks like it! Day 1B of the Asian Poker Tour’s – APT Taipei 2025 Main Event pulled in another 506 entries to boost the cumulative turnout to 1,577. That figure was more than enough to catapult past the NT$ 70 Million guarantee with the prize pool now well over NT$ 75 Million and still two flights to complete.

APT Taipei 2025 Main Event
Taking place at the newly built Red Space venue, Day 1B of the APT Taipei 2025 Main Event ran on Monday, April 28, the second of four entry flights. By the end of the scheduled ten levels, the field had whittled down to 222 players with Hong Kong’s Ka Chun Yuan at the helm.

Players may remember Yuan from his victory at the APT Taipei 2024 National Cup where he outlasted a field of 2,305 entries. Yuan bagged 260,000 (186 bb), placing him 10th in the cumulative Day 2 list. On his heels was Malaysia’s Boon Leong Tan, just four big blinds separating them with 254,600 (182 bb).

Also making the cut was 2019 APT Taiwan Championships Event winner Jinho Hong who went on to clasp a WSOP bracelet in 2022. Hong bagged up 45,600 (32 bb).
Other notables finding a bag were EPT Prague crusher Gab Yong Kim, triple WSOP bracelet winner Anson Tsang, double WSOP bracelet winner Wing Po Liu, WSOP bracelet winner Alex Lindop, also Chen An Lin, Tamon Nakamura, Andres Vasquez, Martin Gonzales, and young guns Kai Cheng Hsu and Tung Wing Wong.

APT Taipei 2025 – Day 4 Winners

While the Main Event commanded the floor, there was also no shortage of action at the side events with another ten players hoisting APT trophies. The biggest winner of the day was Eike Soren Strub at the NL Hold’em followed by Qibang Cheung at the Big “O” Masters, and Wutikrai Phraikhieo who became the first multi-winner of the series. All three players pocketing five-figures. Here are the latest champions.

Eike Soren Strub Wins NL Hold'em
Germany's Eike Strub claimed the largest payout of the day for his victory at the NL Hold'em. The event saw 148 contribute NT$ 25,000 (~US$ 775) to the pot to build a prize pool of NT$ 3,196,800 (~US$ 98,665). Although Strub is rarely seen in the live circuit, he outlasted some of Asia's big names that include David Erquiaga, Chia Yun Wu, Gab Yong Kim, and Yohwan Lim. Strub pocketed NT$ 767,300 (~US$ 23,680) for his win and his first ever APT trophy.


Qibang Cheung Wins Big "O" Masters
All around poker player Qibang Cheung from Scotland is a newcomer to the APT and didn't take any time at all locking up a win. Cheung rose above the 53 entry field of the Big "O" Masters PL Omaha Hi-Lo to collect the largest cut of the NT$ 1,602,720 (~US$ 49,465) prize pool. He earned the second biggest payout of the day amounting to NT$ 505,220 (~US$ 15,595). Among the 7 players that cashed in was Mark Furniss whose career 8 wins all come from APT side events. Furniss has yet to bring one home at this festival and has gotten close with a 4th place finish at the Dealer's Choice and 7th place at this event.




Champion Again! Second Series Win For Wutikrai Phraikhieo
The first multi-champion of the festival has emerged! Thailand's Wutikrai Phraikhieo followed up his victory at yesterday's Tick Tock BOOM event with another strong run, taking down today’s Turbo event to secure back-to-back titles. For his latest win, Phraikhieo topped a field of 233 entries, the largest among the day's side events. With each player putting up NT$ 12,000 (~US$ 372), it generated a NT$ 2,292,720 (~US$ 70,765) prize pool. The top 31 players shared in the winnings, but it was Phraikhieo who stole the spotlight once again for a payout of NT$ 440,720 (~US$ 13,600).



Side events aren’t the only ones picking up good numbers, the Main Event Satellites have also drawn plenty of attention.
