APPT Cambodia 2022: Chien-Chih Weng banks it at Mystery Bounty; Mike Takayama redeemed at NLH 6-Handed; Namhyung Kim tops National Day 1A
The first ever Asia Pacific Poker Tour Cambodia concluded its fourth day of festivities at NagaWorld Phnom Penh with another two players lifting PokerStars spade trophies. We’ve got those stories for you including results of APPT National Day 1A.
Maggie Chien Chih Weng emerged as the first female to win at the ongoing APPT Cambodia 2022. The Taiwanese player was one of the final 15 players of the Mystery Bounty event then went on to claim the motherlode. Weng pocketed the $7,337 first prize and four bounty rewards that included the biggest one of $3,667 for a combined $14,294 in earnings.
The turning point was at three handed where Weng faced tough adversaries Hoa Thinh Nguyen and Nevan Yu Chung Chang, both players started the day as the two biggest stacks. Nguyen and Chang wrestled for control but it was Weng who snuck up from behind. She chunked Nguyen down to 3.5 BB and nearly cleaned him out in second place but the Vietnamese pro lucked out with 
straight on a board 
to beat Weng’s 
. A few hands after, Nguyen doubled up again, this time with 
dominating Weng’s 
throughout, to climb to second rank.
Having failed to eliminate Nguyen, Weng set her sights on Chang who pushed a couple of times before she finally called. Weng’s 
prevailed over Chang’s 
to enter heads up backed by 21 BB to Nguyen’s 9 BB. The end came quick. Nguyen shoved 
which fell to Weng’s

This was Weng’s first Asian victory outside of Taiwan and her second largest career payout. Last year, she won a $400 buy in Ladies Tournament at The Wynn Las Vegas for $16.3K. She bumped up her Hendon Mob tracked earnings to over $96K.
A total of 89 entered the Mystery Bounty for a prize pool of $42,733. The two Day 1 flights bagged up at ITM. The only player on a second final table appearance was Zong Chi He who placed 2nd at the impromptu $500 buy in Flipout.

MIKE TAKAYAMA wins the NLH 6-Handed
Redemption for Filipino pro Mike Takayama who took down NLH 6-Handed, just one day after finishing second at the NagaWorld Kickoff. The event drew 22 entries for a prize pool of $9,603. Only the top 4 got paid with Takayama claiming the $4,033 winner’s purse and a new spade trophy to add to his overwhelming collection.
The race to the money was brutal for the two remaining ladies at the final table. Hua-Wei Lin busted in 6th place with pocket Nines running into Takayama’s pocket Queens. She was followed out by newly minted Maggie Chien Chih Weng who bubbled with 
that missed the board against Jun Hao Wu‘s 
.
With the money intact, Takayama eliminated Harry Ross when his 
improved to trips Aces to dust 
. Before the next bust, Wu, Takayama, and Christopher Mateo took turns up top. Mateo nearly fell with Ace-Nine running into Wu’s Ace-Jack until a Nine found the board. Wu eventually drained out in 3rd place, and in less than ten minutes of heads up, Takayama defeated Mateo with over .

APPT National $100,000 GTD – Day 1A results
Among the day’s highlights was the start of APPT National $100,000 guaranteed. This was a Single Re-entry event with no option of multiple stacks. The $800 buy in attracted 70 players with 22 re-entering for 92 total entries. After 10.5 hours of play, only 17 remained led by Korea’s Namhyung Kim. This was another fantastic result for Kim who earlier bagged the overall second largest stack of the NagaWorld Kickoff and went on to place 9th.
Another player just as consistent as Kim was Yu Qi Zhao who bagged the second largest stack of the day. Earlier, Zhao topped the NagaWorld Kickoff Day 1 chip counts and eventually finished in 5th place. Other notables in the list were newcomers to APPT Cambodia, Florencio Campomanes and David Erquiaga.
The Day 1A survivors return on Tuesday, November 8 for the final day. Up next is Day 1B with cards in the air at 2pm on Monday, November 7. This is the last chance to enter. At this time, only 48 entries are needed to break the guarantee which should happen fairly fast.
