Get ready for APPT Cambodia – November 3 to 13 at NagaWorld Phnom Penh

In just a couple of days, players worldwide will once again descend upon the capital city of Cambodia as the Asia Pacific Poker Tour heads to Phnom Penh for an 11-day series at the five star NagaWorld Integrated Resort. Since the announcement, feedback has been tremendous with many quickly confirming attendance, including players from as far as Australia and South Africa.

Since the closure of the PokerStars hub in Macau in 2018, the APPT schedule has been compromised down two stops per year. However despite this, the tour’s popularity remains. This year has seen two APPT events take place, both in Manila, Philippines, and both amassing big fields.

The APPT’s upcoming arrival into Cambodia marks a new step for the brand as it not only kicks off the tour’s first ever visit to the Kingdom of Wonder but it also suggests the possibility of more next year.  As one of the highly regarded tours in the region, a strong showing of international players within and outside of the region is expected, and with Cambodia borders open, potential is high to exceed past APPT turnouts.

Running from November 3 to 13,  APPT Cambodia will see all the crowd favorites present. 20 trophies are up for grabs and a Main Event featuring the biggest bulk of $400,000 guaranteed. This is one of the largest guarantees ever offered in Asia this year, third only to WPT Prime Cambodia and Poker Dream Vietnam, and at par with its Manila run. Buy in is slightly higher than usual, coming in at $1,500. Overall, festival buy ins range from $100 to $1,100, and for high rollers it ranges from $2,000 to $10,000. Make sure to check the Player Guide for the full schedule and event details.

For incoming international travelers:

As one of the first countries to open its borders during the pandemic, entry into Cambodia is even easier today. As of early October, vaccination requirements and negative tests for partial/unvaccinated have been nixed, which means everyone is welcome. However, visas are still required for select countries. These can be easily obtained online for $36 –www.evisa.gov.kh – or upon entry.

For newcomers to Phnom Penh, here’s some added info:

  • NO TAX on winnings. This applies to both tournaments and cash games.
  • Although the national currency is the Cambodian Riel, most places take US Dollars, even in taxis.
  • Travel from the Phnom Penh International Airport to NagaWorld Integrated Resort is most reliable via Grab or metered taxi. Travel time is around 30 minutes.
