Australian player John “Bert” Perry took down the 2023 title for GPI Australian Player of the Year. 2023 marked Perry’s biggest year as the Aussie player took home AUD 897,000 (USD 600,000) in winnings and inched up 71st on the Australia All-Time Money List.

In October 2023, Perry officially became the Australian Poker Open’s brand ambassador after an impressive run at the Poker Palace Australia. This announcement came after Perry’s incredible six-trophy 2023 recap, with three coming from high-roller events across Asia.

Among Perry’s most sensational 2023 stints was his victory over German high-stakes professional Daniel Smiljkovic during a showdown that left him USD 105,487 and a World Poker Tour High Roller title richer.

To close off the year, Perry emerged victorious at the USOP Da Nang No-Limit Hold’em Last Chance High-Roller event for USD 35,000. In his most recent successes, he ran deep finished 3rd and 4th at two  USOP Taiwan side events.
