Double The Action At Players Series Taiwan Championship in February 2025

In December 2024, a new live poker circuit was born, the Players Series, hosting its first festival in Taipei City. Aimed at the more recreational player pool in Southeast Asia, it presented lower stakes and fewer re-entries to maintain a healthy environment.

Wasting no time to spread its wings, the new brand returns for its second installment. In cooperation with Natural8 and the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club), the upcoming Players Series Taiwan Championship is set to take place from February 19 until March 3 back at the Asia Poker Arena in Taipei City. The festival features NTD 50 Million (~US$ 1.5 Million) in guaranteed prize pools and much more competitive buy ins. In the brand’s official Facebook page, it declared,

Major Events To Mark Down

While many of the lower stakes tournaments have remained, the buy-ins for the major events and high rollers have increased in comparison to the launch. The PS Taiwan Open comes with a price tag of NTD 16,500 (~US$ 508) which was the buy in of the inaugural Main Event. Multiple starting days are available from February 19 to 22, each one features a maximum of one re-entry per flight. All participants will be competing for a guaranteed prize pool of NTD 7 Million (~US$ 212,000). Day 2 will take place on February 23 and the winner will be crowned on February 24.

An even bigger spectacle can be expected in the new PS Taiwan Championship Event, which features an elevated buy-in of NTD 33,000 (~US$ 1,016) and a NTD 20 Million (~US$ 607,000) guarantee. These key figures are closer to what most other competing brands in the Asia-Pacific region use for their headline tournaments. A total of seven starting flights with one re-entry maximum run from February 26 until March 1.

High Roller Events

The most expensive tournaments are the NTD 120,000 (~US$3,693) Superstar Challenge and the NTD 100,000 (~US$3,077) Super High Roller Championship. Both events are expected to attract a more series crowd of known poker pros.

Furthermore larger buy-in fees are set at the PS High Roller Open (NTD 33,000 / ~US$ 1,016), the PS Super High Roller Open (NTD 50,000 / ~US$ 1,539), as well as the PS High Roller Championship (NTD 66,000 / ~US$ 2,031). This trifecta of tournaments features a guarantee of NTD 2.5 Million (~US$ 76,000).

Other Events

However, there are certainly also more affordable tournaments that the Players Series maintains on the schedule. Events that are likely to attract widespread attention are the Mystery Bounty Pot-Limit Omaha, Super Stack, and Mystery Bounty NLHE events. The latter features four flights on February 24 and 25 with a moderate buy-in of NTD 13,500 (~US$ 415) and a generous NTD 3 Million (~US$ 91,000) guarantee. Many other Side Events come with a similar buy-in range and should not have any problem to gather the usual suspects of the Taiwanese poker community.

High Roller – Early Bird Packages

With the High Roller events aimed more towards the traveling poker pros from nearby places such as South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and the Philippines, High Roller Early Bird Packages have been made available. There are four types of packages listed with the Elite Package offering up to 12 complimentary nights!
