Super High Roller Bowl kicks off in Macau: Ivey and Antonius in attendance

Chaar-Lee discovered poker over 20 years ago, starting with fixed-limit games before embracing the rise of No-Limit Hold’em across cash games, STTs, and MTTs. In the early days, he and his circle sometimes played more than 40 different formats in a single night. He organized the first poker camp in his region and has contributed poker technology to several televised shows. The Macau Billionaire Poker Super High Roller Bowl kicked off in style yesterday, unveiling one of the largest poker events ever hosted in the poker room at Babylon Casino in Fisherman’s Wharf.

Stars in Attendance

The Super High Roller Bowl Macau China Main Event is well now underway, with players having paid HKD2.1 million (approx. US$270,000) to enter. The prize-pool is guaranteed at HKD100 million (approx. US$12.7 million). Among those who have entered the event are GPI’s number one rated player Adrian Mateos Diaz, Sergio Aido, Stephen Chidwick, Timofey Kuznetsov, Isaac Haxton, Chris Vogelsang, Erik Seidel , David Peters , Daniel Cates and Sam Greenwood.

Also in attendance are Patrick Antonius and Phil Ivey. The Finnish star has been mostly out of the spotlight in recent years, but after taking down the Partypoker Super High Roller event in Rozvadov a few weeks back he seems keen to get involved in more high stakes tournament action.

Antonius finds himself sat next to the imposing figure of Phil Ivey, who hinted at a return to the tournament tables in 2018 and has finally taken a seat at a major event this year.

Isaac Haxton Chip leader

At the end of the first day of the Super High Roller Bowl Macau, Isaac Haxton has risen to the top of the chip counts and sits with 11,170,000. Heading up the chasing pack are Adrian Mateos with 8,660,000, Kahle Burns with 7,750,000 and Daniel Cates with 7,635,000.

There were 58 entries in total, and there will be 27 hopefuls returning for day 2. Phil Ivey is no longer in contention, but there are plenty of big names still gunning for this title as we head into the second day.

In addition to this huge event there is also the Super High Roller Mini Cup event(HKD9,900) to be contested, which begins tomorrow, and threeSuper High Roller 1-day event (HKD840,000). The 22nd will see the Super High Roller Bowl Macau conclude during its third day of action.

The festival features a total of 10 side events.
