Biography & Poker Background
Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri - the hometown of Wild Bill Hickok, as Cucchiara has noted in interviews - he was a chess player in his youth before discovering poker in college at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where he graduated in May 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Operations Research and Engineering Management with a minor in Economics. The analytical foundation of that degree has been a consistent reference point in how he approaches the game.
During his time at SMU, he co-founded NextGen Poker with two college friends, inspired by poker vloggers including Brad Owen and Andrew Neeme . The channel grew to over 200,000 subscribers, documenting live poker hands and the realities of tournament life. After graduating, Cucchiara left a position in engineering to pursue poker and content creation full-time, subsequently launching his own individual YouTube channel and developing a filmmaking-first approach to poker content. He has spoken publicly about wanting to make poker “a spectacle” in the same way chess grew in the wake of The Queen’s Gambit.
His career has produced moments well beyond the poker table. At the 2025 WSOP he entered the $25,000 Heads-Up Championship and challenged Daniel Negreanu to a $10,000 private heads-up match. He also stepped into a boxing ring with UFC featherweight champion Sean “Suga” O’Malley. He has launched a side business, All-In Brownie, and has been an author and contributor at Poker.org. He is married to Kitty Kuo , with whom he has a child. He joined the CoinPoker Creator Squad alongside Ryan Depaulo and Corey Eyring in 2025.
Play Style & Strategy
Cucchiara’s game is grounded in an analytical approach shaped by his background in operations research and online poker. His results span domestic American tournaments including the WSOP and WPT as well as international high-stakes circuits in Asia, reflecting a willingness to compete beyond his home circuit. He is also a regular in livestreamed cash games including Hustler Casino Live and Big Bet Poker Live. He has spoken about the importance of deep-tank thinking in critical tournament moments and approaches the game with the same systematic mindset he applied in his engineering studies.
