Once Heidi May was at the top, there was no way to bring her down. The young Australian 24-year old proved too tough to overcome at Event $70: US#1,000 No Limit Hold’em Ladies Championship.

The event saw a 718 strong female field with well known players the likes of Vanessa Selbst, Liv Boree, Allison Schultz, Amanda Sizemore, Celina Lin, Amanda Baker, Kitty Kuo, and many more heavy-hitter pro ladies take to the felt. While only some of them reached the money round, May entered the final day as the overwhelmingly stacked chip leader with five players remaining.

From there, she dominated the table, and amidst a wild cheering rail, she went on to defeat Deborah Worley-Roberts at the heads up round to seize her first-ever WSOP gold bracelet. Additionally, she earned her first ever six-digit live score of US$135,098 and now has a total of five cashes at the series.

Final Table Results

2. Deborah Worley-Roberts $83,459
3. Jana De La Cerra $57,930
4. Julie Dang $40,843
5. Katherine Ansorge $29,256

Martin Kozlov was hoping to make it two after winning his first gold bracelet last year however, the Aussie is not running that hot this time around. Although he just picked up his fourth cash of the series, finishing in 9th place at Event #67: US$25,000 Pot Limit Omaha High Roller, it was still amiss for a final table berth with only 8 players making the cut. Still, with a total of 205 players ponying up the entry fee, Kozlov did claim a decent chunk of US$87,813 out of the US$4.86M prize pool.

As for other pros, Dario Sammartino, Dan Smith, and Bejamin Tollerene all found their way into the final table while James Calderaro went on to win the event, pocketing over US$1.2M.

Aditya Sushantimpressive WSOP records

At the start of the series, India’s Aditya Sushant was one of the Tag Team members that won India its first-ever WSOP bracelet. Since then, he has been burning up the felt, running deep in heavy-fielded events, and has now racked up a total of ten cashes. His latest dividend was an 8th place finish out of 1,956 players at Event #66: US$1,500 No Limit Hold’em. He pocketed his third five-digit payout of US$44,255 to bring his total earnings at the ongoing series to over US$145K.

USA pro Chris Klodnick went on to win that event on an unscheduled fourth day one-on-one final bout against Jamaica’s Emile Schiff.
