WPT Prime Thailand Exhibition Dealer Training Camp Launched!

The World Poker Tour‘s – WPT Prime Thailand Exhibition – supported by the Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports, will take place from July 30 to August 5, 2025, at the UOB LIVE venue on the 5th floor of EMSPHERE Mall in Bangkok.

WPT Prime Thailand Dealer Training Sets the Gold Standard

From May 20 to 24, 2025, the Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports, in collaboration with the WPT Tournament Committee, launched a 5-day Professional Dealer Certification Training program.

In its inaugural session, the program enrolled 100 trainees, adopting a dual-mentor system led by international tournament directors and local experts. The training combined theoretical instruction with hands-on practice, delivering a comprehensive and professional development experience for dealers.

The training program was divided into three core modules:

1. Fundamental Skills Training – covering poker-specific knowledge, standardized shuffling procedures, and other foundational techniques.
2. Exhibition Management – addressing how to handle table disputes, player violations, and other operational scenarios.
3. Chip and Time Management – focusing on calculating pots, understanding blind structures, and managing level transitions.

At the end of the training, all dealers underwent both written and practical assessments, graded by the WPT international floor staff.

Those who passed the evaluations were given priority placement in the dealer talent pool, earning the opportunity to serve as official dealers during events.

Dealer Training Boosts Professional Standards Across the Industry

This training program marks a milestone for the development of Thailand’s mind sports industry. It is the first professional dealer training initiative in the country and forms part of a strategic partnership between the WPT and relevant Thai authorities.

Together, they have launched a government-certified “Local Mind Sports Talent Development Program”, a long-term initiative aimed at building a sustainable talent pipeline for Thailand’s poker industry.

The program focuses on key exhibition roles such as dealers and event operations staff, with the goal of expanding into an ongoing training program. It aims to establish a talent pipeline to support major poker events in Thailand and across Southeast Asia.

The successful launch of the WPT Prime Thailand Exhibition has not only brought mind sports to Bangkok, but also helped cultivate professional talent, create jobs, increase income, and boost tourism, injecting new vitality into Thailand’s economy and professional landscape.

With strong backing from the Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports, and the WPT Tournament Committee’s expert planning, all parties are working with precision and dedication to ensure a world-class debut for the WPT Prime Thailand Exhibition.
