Cards have been flying nonstop in Cambodia with the World Poker Tour (WPT) hosting its first Main Tour in Southeast Asia. Taking place at NagaWorld Phnom Penh, the past two days saw five players join the winners club with Korea’s Seongho Cho becoming the first to win two trophies. Other minted players were Steve Ferry (PLO), Ayato Shibata (Hyper Turbo), Ivan Lee (Megastack High Roller), and Kyle Bao Diep (Short Deck). Scroll down for the highlights.

STEVE FERRY wins PLO

Good turnout at the PLO event seeing a record 121 entries for a prize pool of USD 31,690. At bubble time, Woon Yoke Wei knocked out Chao Ting Cheng with AcAs8sKh over JcQdKcAd on a board 10c9cAh6s with the shoves seen at the flop. Woon went on to reach the final table as chip leader eventually bowing out in 6th place.

At heads up, Steve Ferry and Hyuntaek Jo agreed to chop the pot then played for the trophy. Ferry went on to win for his first WPT trophy. The final hand saw both all in preflop. Ferry had 5c3dAh9h straight over AdKc8s7s.

Fast action at the evening’s Hyper Turbo with a 15 second timer from the onset. Three hours in, the 65-entry field was down to ITM of 9 places. At six-handed, Ayato Shibata outdrew Panitan Poopadsri with 6d7d straight over KcJh pair on a board 5c8sAcKh9s.

Shibata went on to knock out three players to face Sean Tan for the title. With the average stack at just 10 bb, both players agreed to chop the pot then played for the trophy. Shibata won it for his maiden title.

IVAN HON CHEONG LEE wins the Megastack Single Day HR

Just last week, Hong Kong’s Ivan Hon Cheong Lee crushed the high roller scene in Taiwan, walking away as the second richest earner of the USOP festival. Lee seems to have brought the winning vibe to Cambodia. On Day 4, he overcame the star studded 67 entry field of the 5K Megastack Single Day High Rollerto lock up the largest first place payout of the festival to date of USD 93,607.

Leading up to Lee’s win, he entered the final table with 13 bb while the chip leader Khanh Nguyen sat with three times his stack. By three-handed, Lee doubled up twice through Nguyen to take the lead: the first hand was Qs7d over Qd3s on a board 3h2cAd10d7c, followed by QcJs over Ac3c on a board KhJd6dQd4d.

Nguyen continued to plunge, losing another shove, this time against Victor Chong with Qd10h dusted by Kc8c. Lee put Nguyen out of his misery in 3rd place with Ad2d over KdQh on a board 4h7d5c9s4s.

Heads up against Chong lasted just one shocking hand. Lee landed the flush with Ah7c on a board Qh2h5s6h7h to defeat Chong’s Ad7s.

KYLE BAO DIEP wins Short Deck

Short-stacked during the bubble round, Kyle Bao Diep navigated his way to heads up of the Short Deck event. After a deal, Diep defeated Matthew Paoletti to add another trophy to his growing collection. This was Diep’s first WPT win.

SEONGHO CHO wins second trophy at Deepstack Turbo Big Bounty

When Seongho Cho walked in the festival doors, he was on the hunt for his career first trophy. On Day 2, he secured it at the two-day NagaWorld Superstack and a payout of USD 17,780.

Two days later, the winning momentum carried into the Deepstack Turbo Big Bounty event where Cho knocked out 9 players to capture a second trophy. He walked away with another five-figure payout of USD 12,225. Cho was the first player to win two events at the ongoing festival.
