World Poker Championship Main Event seals Final 8 led by India’s Kartik Ved
The record-breaking World Poker Championship has finally come down to its final 8 players after Day 2 action played through 13 levels of 60 minute blinds. The 128-player field saw many of its runners’ Main Event dreams go down the drain after inevitably falling short of making the final table. The last 18 players saw a mix of runners including some of Korea’s aggressive contenders – Kim Beab Su and Kim Choong Sub, Day 2 chip leader Le Cong Vuong, and India’s strongest Abhinav Iyer busting the bubble final table.
Main Event action resumes tomorrow with the final 8 led by bracelet winner Kartik Ved, packing a considerable lead of 9M in chips. Ved has been a strong contender since the start of Day 2, consistently continuing his ascend all the way down to the last table. The Indian pro soared to the chip lead after he landed a humongous double up through 12th place finisher Kim Beab Su. From then on, Ved dominated the tables with his highly calculated bets and perfectly timed aggression, leaving his opponents no choice but to stay out of his way.
Kartik Ved has been a well-known name across both the Asian and global circuits with his recorded live results dating back to 2015. Just this year, the highly decorated pro claimed his career-best cash of $275,593 after coming in third at the $1,000 World Series of Poker Mini Main Event in Las Vegas. He followed this with another 4th place finish in the summer games’ Event #87: $5,000 No Limit Hold’em for $172,103, bumping his total live earnings to an impressive $894,713. To date, Ved ranks 7th across India’s All Time Money List (THM), proving to be one of the toughest contenders in tomorrow’s games.
