World Series of Poker Announces Key Dates for 2025 Summer Series in Las Vegas

On December 18, the World Series of Poker officially confirmed what everybody had known already. For the fourth consecutive year, the annual live poker spectacle in Sin City will be hosted at the Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas right on the Las Vegas Strip. The full schedule will still take several weeks if not months to be released, but the newest installment of the WSOP is scheduled to take place from May 27 to July 16, 2025.

Also confirmed in the official press release by the World Series of Poker are the key dates for live poker’s biggest stage, the $10,000 WSOP Main Event. It will commence on July 2 and the final table is set to conclude from July 15 to 16 inside the Horseshoe Events Center. The record-breaking 2024 WSOP Main Event drew a staggering field of 10,112 entries and reached five figures for the second time in a row.

Usually, the final two starting days are the far busiest but that may change in 2025, when July 4th would likely be Day 1c. Jonathan Tamayo was crowned champion after a controversial heads-up duel with Jordan Griff while online poker prodigy Niklas “Lena900” Astedt finished in third place.

Expectations Under New Ownership GGPoker

If the growth in numbers is anything to go by, the upcoming edition will provide even bigger attendance figures, even more so now considering the new ownership by the leading online poker site GGPoker. In 2024, the tournament areas featured more than 700 tables but the WSOP has already confirmed that an additional 100 tables will be made available to accommodate the large turnouts. Ty Stewart, Chief Executive Officer of WSOP, said,

“Each year allows us to refine further and improve the WSOP offering, and 2025 will be no exception. Expect the biggest poker events on the planet, the best action and the most intense competition as we once again welcome tens of thousands of poker enthusiasts eager to experience the magic of the WSOP.”

Confirmed Events

For the time being, the confirmation of the full schedule for the 56th WSOP in Las Vegas is expected to be released early in 2025. Already certain is the return of fan favorites such as Mystery Millions, Millionaire Maker, and the Senior’s Championship. However, the announcement also promised “new, exciting tournament formats” and exclusive online satellites as of January on GGPoker with possible online registration through the client as well.

Which formats that could potentially be remains to be seen, because the 2024 WSOP schedule already included more than half a dozen brand new tournaments. As WSOP Paradise has now also come to a close, the chase for the gold bracelet events is over for the current year, but poker enthusiasts from all over the world will eagerly await the schedule release for next summer to start planning their trips accordingly.
