Saul Liu Appointed as President of USOP Asia Pacific

The U Series of Poker (USOP) is proud to announce the appointment of Saul Liu as the newly elected President of USOP Asia Pacific. With his long experience in the poker industry, Saul is already a well-respected figure among players and industry professionals, especially in the Chinese poker community. His appointment marks a pivotal moment for USOP’s expansion in the region. Saul’s leadership and vision have already delivered results, as he was the driving force behind the upcoming USOP x Japan Gold Dragon Series in Osaka this October.

From Education to Poker: Saul Liu’s Professional Journey

Saul’s professional journey began in the China Education & Sports sector (2016–2020), where he supported younger generations of students from high school to university level. He later transitioned into the poker industry with the China Poker Games (CPG) from 2020 to 2025, starting as a dealer and advancing through floor operations, series livestream production, and total series setup. These experiences gave him a hands-on understanding of tournament operations, player engagement, and large-scale event management. In addition, Saul is now in his sixth year with the Hainan Poker Association, where his long-term commitment earned him the honor of the Gold Dragon Pin. His diverse background showcases his dedication to growth, development, and community building-qualities that bring tremendous value to USOP.

Responsibilities and Vision as USOP Asia Pacific President

As President of USOP Asia Pacific, Saul is tasked with overseeing, directing, and managing all poker tournament operations, branding, and strategic expansion across the region. His responsibilities include developing and implementing the Asia Pacific roadmap for growth, driving new market entry and tournament schedules, and ensuring the successful execution of all live events. He will also serve as the official spokesperson of USOP Asia Pacific, strengthening relationships with players, sponsors, media, and poker communities, while fostering a professional, ethical, and performance-driven culture within USOP. By recruiting and mentoring key regional staff, as well as ensuring comprehensive training for dealers, tournament staff, and marketing teams, Saul will play a central role in shaping the next era of USOP’s success.

Academic Background and Early Passion for Poker

Saul’s academic background includes studies at the University of St. Andrews, Oxford Bellerbys College, and the University of Manchester. It was during his college years in the UK that his passion for poker first began. At that time, the poker industry was already booming, with many professional players making their mark globally. This early exposure inspired Saul’s long-term commitment to the game and laid the foundation for his career in poker.
