Triton Poker Series Surpasses One Billion USD in Prize Money Distributed
During the early days of the global live poker boom following the WSOP Main Event triumph of Chris Moneymaker in 2003, card enthusiasts from all over the world were captivated by the televised High Stakes Poker with some of the biggest names in the game locking horns in six and seven-figure pots. High Roller tournaments with large buy-ins only came several years later, but have since become a very selective small part of the poker community which continues to raise the bar year after year.
Triton Poker “The Pinnacle Of Poker”
In late 2016, a new contender emerged in the high-stakes world and has since become what many consider as the The Pinnacle of Poker, a slogan which Triton Poker most certainly embraces. Featuring the highest stakes in both tournaments and cash games, it has taken over the world of poker by storm and earned the same dedicated following with an incredibly sophisticated and high-quality production level.
The year 2024 produced several records for Triton Poker and the brand confirmed that it has officially surpassed $1 billion in total prize money awarded since its inception more than eight years ago. It comes as no surprise that the biggest prize pool in a live poker event outside of the WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas was generated during a Triton live stop.
Largest Triton Poker Prize Pool In History
During the 2019 Triton Super High Roller Series, the Triton Million for Charity saw 54 participants pony up the £1,050,000 buy-in for the most expensive poker tournament to date. The £54,000,000 prize pool was the ninth largest in history, trailing only eight editions of the annual grand spectacle in Las Vegas.
All-time money leader in Triton Events is none other than Bryn Kenney. Kenney has cashed for more than $44.8 million including the largest ever confirmed tournament cash prize for a single player in that very tournament in London 2019. He now has more than $73 million to his name and pulled ahead of Justin Bonomo, Stephen Chidwick as well as Jason Koon, all of which regularly compete in these highest of stakes at Triton.
Triton Poker’s Epic 2024 Stats
But let’s dive back into the historic stats for the four Triton Poker stops in 2024. According to the brand, a total of $573,865,000 in prize money was paid out with 26 new Triton champions crowned. Moneymaker was among them, as was Alejandro “Papo MC” Lococo, who triumphed in the gargantuan 74-entry strong high-stakes invitational event during WSOP Paradise on The Bahamas. His unexpected victory came with a $12.07 million top prize, the Triton title and WSOP gold bracelet.
In the opening Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Jeju stop early in 2024, the $100k NLHE Main Event drew an eye-watering 216 entries for a $21.6 million prize pool. This was the highest attendance in a six-figure live poker event in history.
Triton Returns To Jeju For First Stop Of 2025
The stop on the South Korean island was very successful and will be the first one of the current year, coming up from February 26 until March 15, 2025 at the Landing Casino inside of Jeju Shinhwa World.
Many Asian poker prodigies and business owners will be back then to showcase their poker talents, wits, gutsy moves and cash game prowess. With the roots in Malaysia thanks to the co-founders Richard Yong and Paul Phua, it comes as no surprise that many Asians have been attracted to this high-octane spectacle.
Among the rising stars in the last few years was also Hong Kong’s Danny Tang, who dominated the third season with an official leaderboard for the Triton Poker Series. He earned the Ivan Leow Player of the Year merits, made even more special by the fact that the late Leow was one of his mentors and close friends. Tang’s marquee title and $200,000 cash prize was later sweetened by the fact that he was unveiled as latest Triton Poker Series ambassador.
His journey to the top was recorded for a mini documentary series as well, which Triton released on their YouTube channel. Speaking of the video platform, the brand has amassed more than 300,000 subscribers on it with the viewerships reaching formidable numbers during each stop as well.
As the saying goes, the first billion is the most difficult but with all attendance figures going up, it probably shouldn’t take another nine years for the second billion. Triton is in an exclusive club, as only the World Series of Poker, World Poker Tour, and the European Poker Tour have put up similar figures albeit more geared towards the overall poker population.
