Steven Jones takes challenge for $4.6 Million on Netflix
WSOP runner up Steven Jones will compete for over $4.5 million on the upcoming Netflix reality game show, Squid Game: The Challenge
The amount he could take home is, although massive, still less than the $6.5 million he won for taking second place on the podium after Daniel Weinman in the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event. Though this might be just as big a challenge as defeating all but one of 10,043 poker pros in a tournament.
Steven Jones takes on a new challenge
On Tuesday, the poker player from Arizona announced on his socials that he will compete in the upcoming season of Squid Game: The Challenge, a reality show, for $4.56 million. The show’s second season will run exclusively on Netflix.

The runner up poker world champion will compete for the prize with 456 other participants. Squid Game: The Challenge is a British reality show, based on the world known survival drama series, Squid Game.
In the reality show participants will be taken up on physical and psychological challenges, unlike in the fictional drama, where the players face elimination, or die during the battle for the life changing money. Here’s the Netflix trailer (Jones, the 183rd Contestant, appears at the 1.00 mark)
The 1st season, which aired in late 2023 with 10 episodes, became the No. 1 English-language show on Netflix within 2 weeks. During the first week, more than 20 million people watched the show, and within the first 21 days, over 220 million tuned in.
Jones isn’t the first poker player we’ve seen compete on a popular reality TV show. Before him, with not much success, Robbi Jade Lewis appeared on USA Network’s The Anonymus last year. Coincidentally, Garret Adelstein, her nemesis, is one of the few former Survivor contestants in the poker community.
