Oscar-winning filmmaker Martin Scorsese is headed back to Las Vegas to helm an eight-episode Netflix series set in the center of the gambling world. He’ll be teaming up with the co-writers of Rounders, Brian Koppelman and David Levien, the creators behind the Showtime hit Billions, on the still-untitled project.

The heart of the series is casino president, Robert “Bobby Red” Redman, who finds himself navigating what Netflix describes as a “modernized yet still dangerous version of the legendary city”.

Serving as day-to-day showrunners, Koppelman and Levien will both write and produce the series. Their careers began with the much-loved poker film Rounders, and they later returned to Vegas territory with the screenplay for Ocean’s Thirteen. Diving into dangerous gambling worlds for prestige television is nothing new for Scorsese. He previously executive-produced HBO’s five-season Prohibition-era Atlantic City drama Boardwalk Empire. And, of course, his long-standing connection to the genre is cemented by the classic film, Casino.

Maria Konnikova —who has been keeping her exact role quiet since the summer—also posted the announcement on X.

Casting remains unannounced for now, though the series has been approved for an eight-episode run. We’ll be watching closely as more details emerge.
