Among the players seeking the new dragon trophy was defending champion / poker icon John Juanda, however his run was cut short before the money. Other fallen contenders were Australia’s William Jia who was fresh off a big win in Hanoi, multi-Triton winner Wai Kin Yong, and and South Korean stars Gab Yong Kim and Nam Hyung Kim.Taking the hardest fall was Juyeol Lee on the bubble with KcKs outdrawn by Pobal Mikalai’s AcQd. With the money intact, Australia’s Alan Pham missed the final table by one spot.

Entering the final table, Wong Ka Fai carried in the largest stack while on the opposite end with just 9 bb, Thailand’s Posri Pitipong was unable to improve to become the first casualty. Next to go was Jae Wook Shinwho jammed his last 18 bb with AsJh and ran into Pobal’s QdQh. WSOP bracelet winner Jinho Hong tumbeld 8th with ace-rag dominated by Hyun Sup Kim‘s big slick.

After Luangsuwimon Wattana doubled up through Pobal, he lost it all to Wong Ka Fai with pocket Eights dominating poket Nines. Down to five players, the lone Vietnamese Ngo Khoa Anh holding up the flag for home turf took 5th place with all of his chips sent to Winfred Yu. Pobal pushed with KhQc then finished 4th after running into Wong Ka Fai’s AdAc.
