Action is once again in full throttle at the CTP Asia Poker Arena, Taipei, Taiwan as the newly established Players Series – Sponsored by Natural8, kicks off in full celebration mode. This season’s Championship festivities is geared to run through March 3rd, featuring over NT$ 50 million in guarantees across a 63 event lineup. Opening day games saw attendees diving right into a grand slam of events, marking the start of the 13-day poker extravaganza.

The first day of the series showcased a variety of exciting formats, including the opening flight of the NT$ 7 million guaranteed PS Taiwan Open, two heats of the highly anticipated Mystery Bounty PLO event, and the star-studded Influencers Invitational, which brought together several well-known personalities for some fun competition.

The first three trophies were lifted off the podium, one of which was awarded to the PS Team, having avenged their previous loss by winning the PS x CTP Mixed Games Challenge. PS’ own KC Cheng, Paul Yugendra, Dimitri Vernier, and Alex Wong triumphed over CTP’s David Tai, Jacky Lee, Raymond Wong, and Ross Wen, claiming victory in 3 out of 4 rounds. This friendly but intense competition had all the organizers and players’ supporters gathered around in cheer, adding to the excitement on the felt.

Other opening day champions included Hong Kong’s Edmond Fung, who earned a seat in the upcoming NT$ 20 million guaranteed PS Taiwan Championship, valued at NT$ 33,000, following his victory at the Influencers Invitational. Taiwan’s Chen Yu Ting settled for the runner-up spot but walked away with an entry to the PS Taiwan Open.

Thirteen known poker personalities joined in the opening day festivities with a special Influencers Invitational event running in part of the celebration. In the end, it was Hong Kong's Edmond Fung who walked away victorious, earning him a seat to the NT$ 20 million guaranteed PS Taiwan Championship valued at NT$ 33,000, while Taiwan's own Chen Yu Ting settled for a runner up finish, taking with him an entry to the PS Taiwan Open in consolation.

International runners were also not amiss, with South Korea’s Yohwan ‘BoxeR’ Lim securing a triumph right on opening day at Win The Button. Lim secured a NT$ 66,300 (~US$ 2,025) score for his dominating display, jumpstarting his two week grind well into the green.

South Korea's Yohwan 'BoxeR' Lim claimed one of the season's first trophies up for grabs with a win right on opening day at the Win The Button side event. Lim bested the 44-entry field and secured the lion's share of the NT$ 183,800 prize pool, adding yet another title to his extensive list of accomplishments. His victory earned him NT$ 66,300 in winnings as he emerged on top of the local dominated scene, with five out of seven paid places taken by Taiwan.

On the headliner page, Taiwan’s own Chueh Kou Long emerged at the top of the leaderboard after the initial flight of the PS Taiwan Open drew to a close, having outlasted a field of 108 entries to lead the 16 players onto Day 2. Among the survivors is defending PS Main Event champion Lai Hsuan Yu, who secured a formidable stack straight away, putting him in a great position for another deep finish.

Six more heats will follow suit through February 22nd, all of which command a buy-in of NT$ 16,500 (~US$ 508). All combined survivors are geared to return to the felt on the 23rd for the Day 2 battle, with a winner crowned the following day, February 24th.

The excitement continues for twelve more days of play with several low-mid stakes action, yet great value games available throughout the series. The first of the two major events, the PS Taiwan Open, is already well underway, followed by the highly anticipated NT$ 20 million guaranteed PS Taiwan Championship taking center stage in less than a week. Seven flights will run beginning on the 26th through March 1st, giving players plenty of chances to land a spot into next Sunday’s Day 2 games.
