Players Series Main Event: Chen Po Jui, Jun Yi, Patrick Liang Top Flights

The inaugural Players Series is a week in at the CTP Asia Poker Arena in Taipei City, Taiwan and action has now amplified as more international players have made their way eager for the NTD 15 million guaranteed Main Event. Last night, Day 1B and Day 1C concluded adding a combined 243 entries to bring the current tally to 368. We’ve got those results below.

Day 1 Results

• Day 1A: 125 entries, 32 advanced
• Day 1B: 178 entries, 44 advanced
• Day 1C: 65 entries, 23 advanced

Chen Po Jui Bags Day 1B Chip Lead

Day 1B was the largest starter yet with 178 signing up throughout the day. In addition to the locals, players from numerous Asian nations were in attendance with many locking up a seat in the next round.

Out of the 44 survivors, it was Taiwan’s own Chen Po Jui high up on the leaderboard. Chen was leading the pack since level 5 and continuously chipped up, maintaining an above 200 bb stack throughout the second half to bag up 340,500. This earned him second position in the current Day 2 leaderboard just below the Day 1A leader Liao Bo Lin (361,500).

Singapore’s Erwin Ng catapulted into 2nd position on level 11 when he took out former chip leader Murly Manokharan with 3♦3♥ on 6♠8♣3♠5♥2♠. Also making the cut were Lee Kun Han, Jonald Garcia, Jonathan Looi, and Sam Hung, 

Jun Yi and Patrick Liang Bag Biggest At Day 1C

Running in the evening was Day 1C with blinds ticking at a faster 30 minutes. This attracted 65 entries with 23 advancing to the next round. Finishing up top were Jun Yi (159,000) and Patrick Liang (158,500).

Just down the rung were two-time series event winner Daniel Yang, Zhong Chi He, Martin Gonzales, and Ka Shun Tsang. 

Only two entry flights remain, both running on December 20. Day 1D kicks off at 12pm with 40min levels and late registration throughout the entire day, Day 1E is a turbo flight which starts at 8pm with blinds increasing every 20 minutes. These are the last flights to enter. Players bag up at the end of Level 12. Weekend warriors will be happy to know that registration is open just before the start of Day 2 on December 21 at 12pm.
