What And Who To Expect At APPT Cambodia

It has been a stellar year for the APPT with two blockbuster festivals in Manila, Philippines, featuring multi-million-dollar prize pools. As PokerStars most successful tour in the region, the trend continues at APPT Cambodia. Since its announcement, the event has already generated significant buzz, and with opening day just around the corner, anticipation is at a high as players prepare for their shot at winning the coveted PokerStars spade and shard trophies.

Hieu Ngo And Other Vietnamese Players

One player guaranteed to make an appearance is Vietnam’s newly crowned APPT Championship champion, Trong Hieu Ngo. Hieu’s had his fair share of past successes in Cambodia and will likely be joined by a crew from his homeland. Also confirmed is Asia circuit regular Kyle Bao Diep. Possible players to attend are APPT Cambodia regular Mai Bien who has had numerous successes at various festivals in the country and Thi Bao Nguyen looking to snatch her first title on foreign soil.

Rene Mar David and Aladin Reskallah To Attend

One standout feature of events in Cambodia is the all international fields. With locals not permitted to play, it is not uncommon for final tables to be filled with players representing different flags. This was the case during the first APPT Cambodia Main Event final table with all nine players from different nations. Canada’s Alex Puchalski won it and banked his largest live payout of US$ 96K at that time. Same as well for runner up Akshay Kapoor from Australia earning US$ 60K.

Among the largest contingents seen at nearly every APPT Cambodia festival hail from Taiwan and the Philippines. According to the organizers, well known players such as Justin Chu, Nevan Chang, Florencio Campomanes, and David Erquiaga are expected. One up and coming Filipino Rene Mar David has also confirmed attendance. David had a fantastic run at the APPT Championship wrapping up with two key event titles. Without a doubt, this young player will be closely watched during the series.

At the close of the APPT Championship in Manila, French player Aladin Reskallah became the proud owner of the PokerStars Red Dragon trophy. This earned him a career high payout of US$ 73K and a package to APPT Cambodia Main Event. Players can expect to see Reskallah at the upcoming festival as he attempts to turn it into another big payday.
