Jennifer Harman Returns to the WSOP and Tells a Story About an Earlier Tilt

If you grew up watching poker on TV during the 2000s, you definitely remember the legendary Jennifer Harman WSOP appearances that made her famous. She was an absolute superstar during the legendary “poker boom”, battling it out against the best players in the world on classic shows like High Stakes Poker and Poker After Dark.

Lately, she has stayed mostly out of the public eye, but do not think for a second that she quit the game. High-stakes poker is still her daily life. Now, the two-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner is officially back at the tournament tables this summer, and she is feeling better than ever.

As a Las Vegas local, she recently stopped for an interview during a break at the $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship. It turns out the legendary Hall of Fame member is still passionate about playing poker.

The Epic Jennifer Harman WSOP Comeback

So, what brings her back to the stressful world of tournament poker? According to Harman, it is all about her current mindset.

“You know, I’m in a really positive place right now. So, you know, I feel good about it.” – Harman told. “I miss it, you know. I love cash games, and I miss tournaments.”

Lately, she has spent most of her time crushing high-stakes poker cash games in the exclusive private rooms at the Bellagio and Aria. But chasing that elusive third bracelet has officially reignited her tournament spark. After all, she won her last bracelet way back in 2002, just before Chris Moneymaker changed the poker world forever.

She was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2015 alongside John Juanda, cementing her legacy. But for Harman, playing at the World Series of Poker is about more than just history; it is a fresh challenge.

The Infamous 2005 Slowroll

You cannot talk about Harman’s World Series of Poker history without mentioning that hand. In 2005, she was the victim of one of the most painful, televised “slowrolls” (when a player intentionally takes a long time to reveal a winning hand just to be a jerk).

She had a full house and put her opponent, Cory Zeidman, all in. Zeidman hit an incredibly lucky one-outer on the river for a straight flush. Instead of just showing his winning hand, he sat there pretending to think for a long time, totally acting for the cameras, before finally crushing her stack.

Interestingly, Zeidman is now serving a 46-month federal prison sentence for wire fraud related to illegal sports betting. When asked if his current situation was karma for the slowroll, Harman just laughed it off.

“No, it’s not karma… Was I upset? Yeah, but once I had him all in and then he started the speech, I was like, okay, I’m done,” she recalled.

A Champion On and Off the Felt

Harman’s legacy extends far beyond her skills at the poker table. Her resilience in life is just as impressive as her endurance in a high-stakes cash game. In 2004, Harman was forced to step away from the game for a full year to undergo her second kidney transplant.

Turning a massive personal challenge into an opportunity to help others, she founded Creating Organ Donation Awareness (CODA), a non-profit organization dedicated to raising money and awareness for the cause.

Today, she remains a deeply active philanthropist and is a proud, regular supporter of the Charity Series of Poker (CSOP) , proving that her biggest wins happen both on and off the felt.

Why She Needs a Third Bracelet

Harman has a very specific and highly adorable reason for wanting to win big at the World Series of Poker this summer. It all started when her two sons pulled out her two shiny bracelets at home recently.

  • Bracelet #1: Won in 2000 in the No-Limit Deuce to Seven Draw event.
  • Bracelet #2: Won in 2002 in the Limit Texas Hold’em event.
  • The Problem: She promised one bracelet to each of her two sons, but a friend is currently staying at their house and wants one, too!

“I said, oh gosh, I have to win a bracelet for you, too.” – Harman joked.

While she busted out of the $10k Omaha event on Day 2, the summer is young. If anyone has the grit to pull off an epic Jennifer Harman WSOP victory, it is her.
