The Gods of Poker Taipei crowned its first-ever Main Event champion on Day 10, with Taiwan’s Chih Wei Fan completing a composed and clinical final-day performance to lift the Black-and-Gold Gauntlet and claim the TWD 4,323,180 top prize.

Fan entered the final day third in chips and spent much of the early stages hovering in the middle of the pack, allowing others to clash while he picked his spots. His defining moment came during three-handed play against Long Hin Shiao and Yu Yeh Chun, where he seized control of the table before delivering a decisive river card that ended Shiao’s run in third place. From there, Fan carried a commanding advantage into heads-up play, holding roughly 100 big blinds to Chun’s 33, and steadily applied pressure until the title was secured.

Speaking after the win, Fan praised the tournament setup, calling the structure “brilliant” and rating it highly among events he has played.

Final Day Action Inside the Main Event

Final day play began with 11 players returning to the CTP Asia Poker Arena , led by Lin Wei Kai after his explosive Day 2 surge that included quads to vault into the chip lead. That momentum carried early, as Lin immediately made his presence felt.

The first elimination came swiftly when Yao Hou Chun ran pocket queens into Shiao’s pocket aces. Moments later, Lin delivered one of the biggest hands of the tournament, cracking Juhyung Son’s pocket aces with a turned straight to send Son out in 10th place and take control of more than a third of the chips in play.

At the final table, Lin continued to dominate early, eliminating Seung Hyuk Jung in ninth place and then Andy Tsai in eighth, the latter falling in a flip. Kevin Choi, the lone Gauntlet holder at the table following his GOP Jeju win, survived multiple all-ins before exiting in seventh place when Lavonne Watkins paired his king to outdraw Choi’s ace.

Six-handed play marked a turning point. Both Fan and Chun doubled through Lin in quick succession, halting his momentum. Chun then used his rebuilt stack to eliminate Soohyeok Lee in sixth place, holding a set against top pair.

Five-handed, Shiao surged into the lead and extended it by knocking out Watkins in fifth place and Kai in fourth. However, a crucial pot against Chun flipped the balance once more, handing Fan the chip lead at the perfect time.

Shiao’s run ended in brutal fashion in third place after Fan spiked one of his limited outs on the river. Heads-up play followed, with Fan holding a commanding advantage. Chun fought on but was eventually eliminated when his jack-four offsuit failed to improve against Fan’s queen-nine.

The Main Event ran from January 12 to 18, drawing 556 entries across five flights at a TWD 45,000 buy-in. A total of 77 players finished in the money, sharing the TWD 21,617,280 prize pool, with the largest payouts reserved for the final day.

Elsewhere on Day 10, the GOP X RPT Mini Main wrapped up with Yuya Asakawa emerging victorious from a massive 293-entry field. Asakawa collected TWD 831,580 for the win, while Elmer Kalaquian finished runner-up for TWD 508,700. The final table featured a strong international mix, reinforcing the event’s appeal as one of the festival’s flagship side tournaments.

The final day of GOP Taipei 2026 brings the curtain down on the series with two major titles still to be decided.

The Kraken Stack returns with 18 players remaining, led by Heng Zhe Hu, who brings back 1,598,000 chips. Close behind are Seokyoung Lee and Thamvijit Montayu, while several familiar names sit within striking distance as blinds increase.

The GOP High Roller also plays to a winner today, with Seung Hyuk Jung holding the chip lead at 1,250,000. John Niko Costiniano and Andrew Han remain firmly in contention, setting up a tightly packed final table where one double-up could reshape the standings.
