“Today, Redemption” Danny Tang Wins Triton Montenegro Main Event

Triton Montenegro 2026 crowned a new $100K NLH Main Event champion after Danny Tang completed a dramatic comeback to win $3,565,000 and his sixth Triton Poker title.
The Hong Kong pro battled through a rollercoaster final table at the Maestral Resort & Casino in Przno, Montenegro , recovering from a seven big blind stack before defeating Austrian pro Klemens Roiter heads-up.
Danny Tang Wins Triton Montenegro Main Event

The victory marked Tang’s first Triton title since his extraordinary 2023 run, when he won five titles in nine months and secured the Ivan Leow Player of the Year award.
Already a Triton Main Event champion in Short Deck, Tang now owns one of the biggest No Limit Hold’em victories of his career as well, adding a second Jacob & Co Triton Epic X Skeleton timepiece to his collection.
The Main Event attracted 159 entries, including 64 re-entries, building a massive $15,900,000 prize pool. The champion was scheduled to earn more than $3.5 million alongside one of the most prestigious trophies on the high roller circuit.
“It’s a little bit strange compared to the $30K a few days ago,” Tang said after the win. “I don’t know why, that day I was a lot more tense. It didn’t go my way last time, but today, redemption.”
A Huge Bubble Call Changes Everything

Tang’s path to the title nearly ended before the money.
As the stone bubble approached, Tang found himself facing a brutal river decision against chip leader Leon Sturm . Tang held trip queens with queen-ten on a double-paired board, while Sturm applied maximum pressure with jack-eight.
After a long tank, Tang eventually called and was shown the bluff, doubling his stack in one of the defining moments of the tournament.
Moments later, Thomas Boivin busted on the stone bubble when his pocket queens lost to Isaac Haxton ‘s ace-king.
That officially sent the remaining players into the money and completely changed the momentum of Tang’s tournament.
Final Table Swings

Tang carried the chip lead into the final table, but things quickly became complicated.
Kiat Lee and Alex Kulev were the first two players eliminated, while Wang Ye steadily climbed the leaderboard.
One of the biggest pots of the final table came when Wang called down Tang before turning the tables on the river with a huge shove holding ace-jack. Tang folded king-queen and suddenly dropped to only seven big blinds.
“When I went down to seven BBs after bluffing Wang Ye earlier, I was, ‘Urgh, man, I blew another chip lead, another good spot,'” Tang admitted. “But then I got lucky, I kept myself together, and kept fighting.”
“I said to myself, ‘If I can double up once, I’m in this.’ And eventually cards went my way.”
Tang doubled through Sturm with ace-king against ace-queen, then doubled again through Roiter to climb right back into contention.
Roiter’s Monster Run Falls Short

Roiter entered the final table still searching for his first Triton title despite already recording multiple deep runs on the series.
The Austrian took control late in the tournament after winning a massive blind-versus-blind confrontation against Sturm. Roiter’s ace-king improved against Sturm’s pocket queens in a pot worth more than half the chips in play.
Soon after, Roiter eliminated Wang in third place to begin heads-up play with an overwhelming advantage.
At one point, Roiter held 83 blinds to Tang’s 16.
But the comeback started immediately.
Tang doubled with pocket sevens against king-seven, then doubled again with ace-jack against ace-four. Suddenly, the momentum had completely shifted.
“Even heads-up I was a huge dog,” Tang said. “I was saying to my friends I have no pressure.”
“When I started to take the lead heads-up, I didn’t want to have expectation again, but I could feel it was going very smooth.”
A Beautiful Story Ends with the Title

The final hand arrived shortly after another ace-versus-ace confrontation developed. Tang’s ace-jack stayed ahead of Roiter’s ace-seven, ending the tournament and completing one of the biggest comebacks of the Montenegro series.
Roiter collected $2,390,000 for second place, while Wang earned $1,636,000 after another huge Triton performance.
Tang celebrated the victory alongside his girlfriend Katie before paying tribute to the Triton Poker Series itself, where he has become one of the tour’s most recognisable champions.
“Triton is in my blood, in my veins,” Tang said. “I love Triton. My career would not have been what it is without Mr Paul and the whole Triton family.”
“This is the best place to play poker in the world, bar none, and I’m glad I can represent the brand.”
