Starting with just two poker tables in a market back in 2015, ten years later, Taiwan now stands as Asia’s premier hub for poker – a destination that embraces everything poker, be it small stakes to high rollers, from homegrown events to international festivals. And the reason for this is Hsiung Hsing “David” Tai, founder and CEO of the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club), whose vision and persistence built a solid base for poker enthusiasts in the region.

In a similar timeline, in Hong Kong back in 2015, Park Yu “Sparrow” Cheung and several poker lovers created the Hong Kong Poker Players Association (HKPPA) . The goal was to bring players from Hong Kong together to help improve their skills, share experiences, and build a stronger community. A decade later, HKPPA has grown into a powerhouse association with around 5,000 members.

Through the years, these two associations have forged a bond, becoming one of the most iconic cross-regional poker collaborations in the Chinese-speaking poker community. Later this month, they join forces for a milestone celebration dubbed the CTP X HKPPA 10 Year Anniversary. This exciting event takes place at the Asia Poker Arena in Taipei City, Taiwan. Let’s have a look at what’s in store.

CTP X HKPPA 10 Year Anniversary

CTP Club X HKPPA

Browsing the schedule, the CTP X HKPPA 10 Year Anniversary is one celebration in Taiwan that will surely bring everyone out in full force. Taking place from September 23 to October 7, 2025, the festival rolls out 42 events with a combined NT$ 10,000,000 (~US$ 327K) in guarantees with buy-ins starting as low as NT$ 1,200 (~US$ 40) and topping out at just NT$ 33,000 (~US$ 1,100)! That’s affordability for all!

With the moment fast approaching, Tai invites everyone to celebrate this milestone together:

Over the past 10 years, CTP has grown from a small community into a home for thousands of poker players. This milestone isn’t just about our club – it’s about the friendships, the passion, and the memories we’ve all built together. As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, I warmly invite every player, partner, and friend to join us in this celebration of poker and community. The past decade has been incredible, and the next one will be even greater.

HKPPA also looks forward to the gathering with plenty of games planned for everyone. Cheung shares,

Taipei has become a hub for poker, and these back-to-back series from CTP and HKPPA are the perfect way to celebrate our 10th anniversaries. The rebranded Harbour Poker Cup remains a favorite among Hong Kong players, and with 29 trophy events – including plenty of mixed games – we’re looking forward to another fantastic series for players of all levels. I can’t wait to see old friends and meet new ones at the tables.

The 15-day event is broken down into two parts – CTP 10th Year and Harbour Poker Cup plus two 10th Anniversary CTP X HKPPA Joint Events.

Few may know that CTP Club’s journey began in 2015 with just two tables inside Taoyuan Market. The following year, CTP expanded to four branches nationwide with its largest poker room situated in Taipei City with 25 tables capacity.

Now in its 10th year, the association has 19 poker rooms including the most well known, Asia Poker Arena. This is the club’s largest poker room, housing more than 50 tables and a steady stream of international action. As an added tidbit, the original location in Taoyuan still runs and has now expanded to nine tables inside a proper facility.
