Asia Poker League returns to Vietnam in November and teams up with DeepStack Open

After delivering a highly successful inaugural event last May, Asia Poker League returns to Vietnam for APL Ho Chi Minh City – Road Series Vol 3. This second round of festivities has something for everyone with a fantastic schedule lined up from November 15 to 25 at Pro Poker Club. 18 events run throughout, highlighted by the VND 8,000,000,000 guaranteed Main Event.

To set the pace, APL and DeepStack Open have joined forces for the first time to bring players a truly exciting opening event.

DeepStack Open Vietnam

Taking a closer look at the series opener, the DeepStack Open is a two-day event featuring the DSO’s world-renowned structure. According to the DSO website, players start with a very generous stack of around five times the usual stack. This allows players more hands and see more cards. DSO has become very popular in Europe and will be gracing the Vietnam felt for the first time. The event runs from November 15 to 16. Buy-in is VND 9,900,000 (~US$424).

To join in, two flights are offered, both taking place at different times on opening day:

• Flight A at 1pm (local time)
• Flight B Turbo at 8pm (local time)

Keep in mind, Flight A will see blinds increase every 40 minutes while Flight B Turbo has blinds going up every 15 minutes. You can view the complete structure in the DSO website.

Main Event – VND 8 Billion Guaranteed

The event to gun for is of course the Main Event. This edition fires up with a much larger guarantee than previous. The event features an VND 8,000,000,000 guarantee (~US$342,500). Buy-in is VND 16,500,000 (~US$707).

Last May, the inaugural APL Vietnam set the record for the largest Main Event field seen in the country of 864 entries. With Vietnam becoming a choice destination for players all over the region, the highlighted event will likely draw another massive attendance.

The Main Event runs for 7 days from November 18 to 24. Four starting days are offered followed by Day 2, Day 3, and the Final 9.

APL Top Gun and BB Ante events

With poker organizers worldwide slowly making the change to BB Ante, APL offers six events with this new format. One of the BB Ante events to mark down is the APL Top Gun – Winner Takes All. No explanation necessary here. The tournament has a buy-in of VND 7,700,000, and the entire prize pool is awarded to the winner. This may as well be considered the ultimate KO tournament. Event takes place on November 16. Other BB Ante events are the No Limit Hold’em, KO Bounty 2, and the 6 Max Turbo.

High Roller

Every poker festival isn’t complete without a tournament for players that prefer higher stakes. The High Roller event takes place on November 22 to 24. Buy-in is VND 33,000,000 (~US$1,413).

• High Roller Day 1A – November 22 at 3pm
• High Roller Day 1B – November 23 at 3pm
• High Roller Final – November 24 at 1:30pm

Other events

Among the other events lined up are the Club Event on November 23. Buy-in is VND 6,600,000/pax. Also, the APL Super Deepstack. This event takes place from November 24 to 25. Buy-in is VND 11,000,000.
