World Poker Championship ₫10 Billion gtd MAIN EVENT begins today in Hanoi, Vietnam – January 10 to 14

For the past seven days, local and international players have made their way to the Grand Loyal Poker Club for the richest season opener in Asia – the World Poker Championship $1M GTD. Currently underway in Hanoi, Vietnam. the festival is proving to be just as mighty as its inaugural runwith huge fields and crushing prize pools.

The series opened on January 3 and runs through January 15. To date, twelve players have already been crowned. More titles have yet to be claimed including the most coveted MAIN EVENT which kicks off today featuring a juicy ₫10 Billion (~$425,080) guarantee. Before players can get a piece of the pot, they will have to successfully navigate through any of the Day 1 heats. The first one hits the felt at 11am.

Notes:

  • Day 1A, Day 1B, and Day 1C will see blinds increase every 40 minutes
  • Day 1D (Turbo) will see blinds increase every 25 minutes.
  • Registration closes at the start of Level 7
  • All Day 1 heats play to the money (ITM) or 12.5% of the field
  • 30-seconds action clock will be in play starting Day 2
  • Day 2 onwards will see blinds increase every 60 minutes
  • Day 2 will play down to the final 9 players
  • Redraw at final 24 players and final 9 players

Entering players will be given a starting stack of 30,000 which is a deep 150x the opening blinds of 100-200-200 Big Blind Ante. This is an unlimited re-entry tournament. Players are allowed multiple stacks but only the best stack will advance.

At the previous WPC Main Event, it exceeded all expectations drawing a record 1,020 Main Event entries. This remains the biggest Vietnam Main Event field. It also holds the second largest Vietnam Main Event prize pool of ₫17.8 Billion which the brand aims to surpass in the coming days.

Already seen in action the past days is the defending champion Ha Manh Tuong.He has been running hot with two final tables cashes – 3rd at the Kick Off event and 6th at the HSOP Main Event. Currently, Ha is ranked 2nd in the WPC Player of the Series race. We will continue to keep tabs on his progress as he chases down a back to back.

Also gracing the felt were international pros – famous American player Huck Seed who won the 1996 World Series of Poker Main Event, WPT Prime Cambodia Main Event champion David Erquiaga,Korean high roller Gab Yong Kim, and India decorated pro Aditya Agarwal. We should be seeing them attend the Main Event.
