Rosete Triumphs in Hyper Turbo
Stretching into well past midnight, the (Event #11) Hyper Turbo saw the first victory by a Filipino here after runner-up performances by Vince Nachor and Duroy Gopez as Maxwell Rosete eliminated five players in the final table to capture the trophy and the PhP87,832 (~US$1,575) champion’s purse. With four players remaining, Rosete had more than 60% of the total chips in play.
The key hand was when Rosete’s 7♥ 7♠ outdrew the biggest threat to his stack in fellow Filipino Tony Gabitan who had K♥ K♣ all-in preflop. Rosete flopped a set: A♥ 7♣ 8♣ to bust Gabitan in third place.
In the end, Rosete—the Manila Super Series 13 Warm-Up titlist—upended Zenki Isa of the United States in the second hand of Heads Up when the Filipino open shoved J♣ 4♦ and got called by Isa’s 2♣ 2♦ . The runout had a four ( 4♥ 8♠ 6♦ A♣ 9♥ ) and it was enough to ensure the win.
Isa received PhP57,500 (~US$1,030) while Gabitan got PhP41,000 (~US$735) for finishing in third.
